THE OLDEST ESTABLISHMENT IN A large assortment of Findings, and Leather, French Calf, The steps came on the stairs—up them; the young ladies glanced uneasily around, but the sergeant never stirred. There was a stir in the hall, followed by a sudden rush, and about twenty-fire of Ashby's cavalry made their entrance, with an utter disregard to the proprieties of life and the presence of ladies' natured manner, sitting down and pitching into the dinner like a naif starved dragoon as he was—an unceremonious example which was imitated by his followers. If the Coppers have excelled in any one meanness more than another, it ia perhaps, in their efforts to manufaeture par* tisan capital to aid the enemies of the Government. Only last Winter, the Copperheaded Senator from this district introduced a long preamble and sundry resolutions, prefaced with " Whereat, York County has been overrun with fugitive negroes," &c.," and '• Whereat, the labor of the poor white man is seriously jeopardized thereby," &c. It was a notorious fact that a dozen "fugitive negroes" had never been so stupid as to tarry in these Copperhead regions; yet the party needed something to work upon, and this lame and stale stock in trade was better than nothing.-— And now, after having invited their " Southern brethren" toD come and see them, and even while these lambs were afar off, even a distance of nine miles, they sent out their chief Burgess to "lay hold upon them" and compel them to come into York, tendering them in advance "the freedom of the city," and the chief of the Copperheads, acting as escort in—they must needs issue another pronunciaminto. For be it remembered, the rank and file of the York Copperheads, when they consented that the town officer should go oat and urge their friends to eome in, had no conception of tbe nnaerieal magnitude of the family they had invited, nor of the taking way they so unreservedly exhibited, and therefore something must needs be done to anodyne these little idiosyncraciea; bo, some time after the Rebels had incontinently departed, the Copnerhead organ here issues the following t'mely order. Timely, I say, because the local stook ef ice is exhausted1, and even ice itself oould not hare proved such a eooler to this excited and injured people. PITT8TON. WALL'S HOTEL, Artificial Teeth Our Colored Troops.—Within five months there will probably be not less than 60,000 to 80,000 colored soldiers in the field, including the freed slaves. This is an accession of physical power which is not to be despised, and will materially mitigate the seveiity of the draft. As a moral power is hastening the downfall of slavery, the organisation of colored volunteers will have a tremendous influence. West Pittston. At precisely noon of the next day, a look into the dining-room of the Jeffs would have disclosed the sergeant, and with one exception, the entire picket under his command, sitting at the table, their arms stacked in the hall, making an onset before which the dinner vanished like chaff before the wind. PITT8TON.
