Cholera Cured. tPssTiBtr. told distinctly that they were in the power of the Spanish government, and nothing could he done for them lis Americans, inasmuch as the President's proclamation had declared that any persons joining an invading force would thereby forfeit the protection of the United States. This was said to prevent their forming any false hopes from my visit. We learn that, upon receipt of these despatches, the President directed copies to be sent to the Spanish Minister, the further to enforce an appeal already made to the government, now since the leader of the leader of the expedition has been cut off, to deal mercifully with his deluded followers, who were enticed into the invasion under the belief that the island were already in a state of revolution, and desired assistance to establish republican government—a state of facts which, hod it existed, could not havfl justified their conduct, either in the view of our own statues or of the law of nations, but the expeciation of which gives them a strong claim to pardon. Be lore landing in Cuba they anchored near Key West, where they remained several hours, and were visited l!y some citizens of that place. They landed in Cuba about two o'clock of the morning of the 12th of August. Their first fight took place on '.he 10th. From that period they had lost all recollection of dates. They had five engagements, but could not tell how many of their number had been killed. They were armed with condemned muskets— had no rilles ; but many individuals had revolvers and'knives. They brought with them eighty thousand cartridges, and captured many more after landing. They had no artillery. SAML. P. The cornmundant immediately inquired the reason of his subordinate, who Mated that those who had been confined there oil the previous evening, came too lute to he provided for on that morning, but that they would have their allowance of coffee at dinner.— fie stated that the others had been provided for according to the order. Head and Rr.rr.ECT.—The afflicted would do well to reflect before trusting tlieir health, happiness, and in many cases their liven in the hands of Physicians ignorant ol* this class of maladies. It is certainly impossible for one man to understand nil the ills the human lamily are subject to. Every respectable physician has his particular branch, of which he is more successful than his brother professors, and, therefore, to that he devotes more of his time and study. Dr. Hunter is known to be the most successful practitioner in the United States, in diseases of the sexual organs. Years of Phactice exclusively devoted to the study and treatment of strictures, effects of solitary habits, ulcers upon the body, throat, nose or legs, pains in the head or hones; mercurial rheumatism, gravel, irregularities, disease arising from youthful excesses, gajty, climate, or impurities of the blood, whereby the constitution has become enfeebled, enables the Doctor to offer specify relief to all who may place themselves under his carc. Yellow Ink.—A little alumn added to saffron and water makes a good yellow ink. Thicken with gum. Explanation.—The reason why gum i* required in all ink is that most of the animal and vegetable substances Used in ma* king colors, combine with the water in which they are boiled or scalded, so intimately, that some other substance or substances are needed to set the particles of color free from the water, so that they may leave an impression upon the paper. Thu» copperas, alum, muriate of tin, acetate of lead and a number of other substances ara used to set free the particles of color, or what is called precipitating. Gum arabio or some other glutinous substance, holds the particles of color in solution, in other words from falling to the bottom and leaving the water by itself, and the coloring matter nothing but a thick sediment. This officer was pres. ent throughout the interview. Another gentleman, who was introduced as inspector of prisons, came in during its continuance, and remained until its close. The prisoners were heavily ironed, were clad in a prison uniform, and had their hair closely cut. They were confined in an arched gnllerv, to which access was had through two grated doors, the inner one being entirely of iron.
