The situation of the harbor is admirably adapted for carrying on an extensive commerce, and so am as the large floating dock now in contemplation is completed the &cillties for doing a shipping trade will be very much increased. So far as the town is concerned I may say the same of it as of Swansea: "Such has been the vast improvements made here during the last fifteen years, that one absent from the place during that period would scarcely know it Streets have been formed, bouses and factories erected, where there was nothing but green Adds and barren wutes a few years ago. A very fine market place has been recently erected on the site formerly known as "Chamber Park," and if it has any fault at all it is that of being too large, i. e. to supply the wants of the town and neighborhood for twenty years hence.— Market places in England and Wales are very fine structures, such as I have not seen elsewhere. Every town of note has its neatly erected market place, where, on a certain day of the week, are exposed for sale goods of domestic manufacture, principally farm produce, such as grain, meat, butter, cheese, fruits C£c. Each and every department being separate and distinct from the other, and to accommodate which, neat and admirably arranged stalls, covered in, are erected for the purpo6« of exposing such articles for sale, which stalls are constructed to form a square, in the centre of which is the market keeper's dwelling and clock tower, erected of hewn stone,, as if t o last for ages untold, with wide entrance gates, thus the market, when not in use ceases to be a plaee of public thoroughfare, and they are well attended by high, low, rich and poor, who sell and buy fairly and honestly. The Llanellv Market Place, as in fact all others generally are, is the property of the Llanelly Local Board of Health, which is simply the people, an institution of men chosen by the inhabitants to administer the laws and regulations for the government of the borough.— Shrewd business men, elected to hold the office for honor and not for pay, a toll is collected of the various holders of market stalls on each market day by a.collector, appointed for the purpose, who is also in seme town's market keeper, which money liko rates and other municipal taxes is deposited with the Treasurer of the board to be used for uo other purpose than for matters connected with the borough, how faithfully those moneys arc expended the well paved clean streets and sanitary condition of the towns plainly answer Honestly 1 Welsh struggle lor independence, and Wales has been ever since, a3 she ever will be, subject to the English crown. One pleasant sunshiny morning late in October, as farmer Blifkins was proping up the grapevine in his front yard, that threatened to breakdown with the weight of its luxuriant burdens, a neat looking cart drove up from which Luke Jordan alighted with a quick, elastic spring quite in contrast to hia former easy leisurely movements. , PITTSTON, PA. At length, in flirting her handkerchief over the carriage, she dropped it too, evidently not accidently. Instantly two or three young heioes sprung from their saddles to return it to her fair hand, but the awful voico of royalty stayed them, " Stop gentlemen," exclaimed the Queen, " leave it just where it is. Now, my daughter, get down from the carriage and pick up your handkerchief." There was no help for it— The royal footman let down the steps for the little royal lady, who proceeded to lift from the dust the pretty piece of cambric and lacc.
