All Were by Acclamation— When the case was resumed this morning, fourteen witnesses were placed on the stand to testify to the good character borne by the defendant. The closing addresses Were then made, by Attorney John T. Lenahan for the defense and by Attorney Williams for the prosecution. The address of Judge Wheaton to the jury occupied about 20 minutes. He reviewrd the testimony in the case and read the points of law. He made it very clear to the jury that in order to find the defendant guilty of embezzlement, it must be clear to their minds that he had actually taken money belonging to the company jind had not refunded the same; also that they must glean from the evidence whether or not there was an intent to embezzle. The judge also told the jury that they might find defendant guilty on the indictment, which included three charges; that they might find him innocent of the three charges; or that they might find him guilty on one or two of the charges and Innocent of the others. Glenwood Springs, Colo.. April 20.— President Roosevelt's hunting trip has been crowned with success far beyond his expectations or those of the- most sanguine of his guides. Three bears were killed by the party yesterday and two Monday, one by the president and one by Dr. Lambert. 1'. B. Harrisburg, Pa., April —The Hepublican state convention, held this morning in the opera house, was a very quiet affair. The prearrange# programme was carried out to the letter. All of the nominations were made by acclamation, as follows: Tilt* arrival of the $2,000,000, coupled with tin- statement of a clearing house committee that the assets and collateral of the bank had been carefully examined and that tin? bank was perfectly solvent and with a posted notice from the directors that tin- bank was abundantly able to meet ali its liabilities, convinced the waiting depositors, mostly working people, that they had nothing to fear. The party is almost snowbound iu its present location, and 110 attempt will be made to cross the divide. Fifteen feet of snow Is on the ground on the other side, and any effort to reach Kedstonc would be futile. The hunters are satisfied, however, for they have reached the center of what the guides say is the best bear country in Colorado. Harrisburg, Pa., April —The Hepublican state convention, held this morning in the opera house, was a very quiet affair. The prearrange# programme was carried out to the letter.
