Chadrtick arrived In Cleveland this morning. The Journey from New York was without incident. Minneapolis, Minn., Deo. 14.—One of the Worst tires that the city of Minneapolis has ever known raged here early this morning for many hours and destroyed between $3,000,000 and $4,000,- 000 worth of property. Y., Dec. 14.—It was after 8 o'clock this morning when Mrs. Cassie Chadwiek, on 1Doard the train that is bearing tier to Cleveland, opened the door of her stateroom and looked' into the car with a smile on her face, saying, "Good morning, Mr. Reporters." She seems very glad to be getting back to Cleveland and expresses herself as very hopeful of the outcome of the indictments against her there. The deputy marshals are keeping a very close watch on her throughout the trip. Washington, Dec. 14.—Just as the Senate was about to give tinanimous consideration to private bills, at 12:35 o'clock today, there was a stir at the main door. A 'messenger from thb House, followed by a special committee of five appointed to tnnpeaeh Judge Charles Swayne entered. The chair announced that it was ready to receive the messenger, and the messenger reported the resolution of impeachment, which a special committee, announced and received. The House delegation was headed by Representative Palmer, of Pennsylvania, the other members being Mr. Jenkins, of Wisconsin; Gillett, of California; Clayton, of Alabama, and Slmith, a* Kentucky. The committee advanced to the bar of the Senate and Mr. Pal- Chief of Police Ivtihler and a detail of fifty policemen were at the Union station to meet her. There were fully 10,000 persons in and around the station when the train arrived. Is it for the older ones? There she will remain, as the jrnest of Sheriff Barry, until the federal grand jury wants her as a witness. and in less than a half hour this building was a mass of wreckage. Next to the Peck building is the furniture supply house of Boutelle Bros., the largest house of its kind in the northwest. This building soon caught fire and burned rapidly until totally ruined. The sparks from this fire were carried for blocks by the north wind which was blowing, causing several small fires throughout the city. New York, Dec. 14.—Braving all the charges heaped up against her in Ohio, confident of her ability to escape punishment before the courts of her home city and still intimating that every obligation she had contracted would be paid, Mrs. Cassie L. Chadwick waived examination here and started for Cleveland, guarded by two United States deputy marshals and trailed by three federal secret service men. PEOPLE'S STORE, Three Lives Reported Lost. Wabash . .. 43% The Powers Mercantile company, an immense department store just across First avenue south, was threatened with destruction, but heroic efforts an the part of the Minneapolis and St. Paul fire departments prevented its destruction, although immense damage was done to the stock by water. For a time the best part o.f the retail district of the city was threatened, and the firemen seemed powerless to stay the progress of the flames, which were driven by a high wind from the north. He added that he would advise Mr. Carnegie to run down to Florida after the holidays, taking the sea route because of the danger of train travel to his health. No sittings after above date. Two Firemen Killed, Minneapolis, Minn., Dec. 14.—Firemen Jacob Miller and John Fallows were killed in this morning's fire. Miiller lost his life by falling down an elevator shaft, at the bottom of which he was incinerated. Fellows was burned to death, the flames saving cut off his escape. Ely, professor of mathematics since 1887 at Vassar college, died very suddenly at the college. While walking to the main building she was seized with nn attack of dizziness and fell to the ground. She was carried to Dr. Thelberg's otlice at the college and expired in a few minutes, death being caused by apoplexy. Miss Ely graduated from Vassar in 1888 with the second class that ever left the college. Y., Dec. 14.—It was after 8 o'clock this morning when Mrs. Cassie Chadwiek, on 1Doard the train that is bearing tier to Cleveland, opened the door of her stateroom and looked' into the car with a smile on her face, saying, "Good morning, Mr. Reporters." She seems very glad to be getting back to Cleveland and expresses herself as very hopeful of the outcome of the indictments against her there. The deputy marshals are keeping a very close watch on her throughout the trip. Washington, Dec. 14.—Just as the Senate was about to give tinanimous consideration to private bills, at 12:35 o'clock today, there was a stir at the main door. A 'messenger from thb House, followed by a special committee of five appointed to tnnpeaeh Judge Charles Swayne entered. The chair announced that it was ready to receive the messenger, and the messenger reported the resolution of impeachment, which a special committee, announced and received. The House delegation was headed by Representative Palmer, of Pennsylvania, the other members being Mr. Jenkins, of Wisconsin; Gillett, of California; Clayton, of Alabama, and Slmith, a* Kentucky. The committee advanced to the bar of the Senate and Mr. Pal- Chief of Police Ivtihler and a detail of fifty policemen were at the Union station to meet her. There were fully 10,000 persons in and around the station when the train arrived. Is it for the older ones? There she will remain, as the jrnest of Sheriff Barry, until the federal grand jury wants her as a witness. and in less than a half hour this building was a mass of wreckage. Next to the Peck building is the furniture supply house of Boutelle Bros., the largest house of its kind in the northwest. This building soon caught fire and burned rapidly until totally ruined. The sparks from this fire were carried for blocks by the north wind which was blowing, causing several small fires throughout the city. For a time the best part o.f the retail district of the city was threatened, and the firemen seemed powerless to stay the progress of the flames, which were driven by a high wind from the north. Ely, professor of mathematics since 1887 at Vassar college, died very suddenly at the college. While walking to the main building she was seized with nn attack of dizziness and fell to the ground.
