Three Persons Lost Their Lives in an Incendiary Fire. New York, Nov. 10.—In a Are at No. 40 Bast 97th street This morning, which the police declare was of incendiary origin, three persons were burned to death. Many others had very narrow escapes. Y., Nov. 10.—Judge Parker issued a personal address to "The Democracy of the Nation." In it he declares that he will never seek a nomination for public office, but will be an earnest party worker. He urges immediate reorganization for battle against tariff fed trusts and says the party has yet before it a great mission. The people, he thinks, will surely turn to Democracy for relief from the leeches of monopoly. Judge Parker has under consideration two offers to enter into a law partnership in New York city. One of these is from De Lancey Nicoll. "While arrangements have not yet been decided upon," he said, "I know that I shall be at work very soon." In general the situation is chiefly interesting because of the fact that the tickets in mauy of the states were cut. President Roosevelt ran ahead of his ticket in many localities, notably in Massachusetts, where he secured a plurality of 8(5,000 votes, while the Republican candidate for governor ivaa defeated by over 155,0(H). In that state the legislature is Republican, and the entire Republican ticket with the exception of governor warf elected. In Missouri circumstances are similar, but the order is reversed. Va., Nov. 10.—West Virginia seems to have kept pace with the rest of the Union at Tuesday's election. Returns have come in very slowly, but the result can now be definitely stated. The Democrats concede .that Roosevelt has carried the state by over 10,000, while the Republicans claim that Roosevelt's majority -vjUl be the largest ever given to any candidate by the state and may exceed 30,000. The Democrats have not conceded the election of W. M. O. Dawson, the Republican nominee for governor, although his election is claimed by the Republicans by over :iu,uuu.
