Stinger, Mukden, Sept. 23.—The situation here continues quiet. Small parties of Japanese skirmishers are pushing northward on the road from Beutsiaputze to Fushan. When the count was finally proceeded with the committee by a vote of 15 to 1 decided to throw out the vote of Bell county? which, according to the Hunter men, gave Hunter 1,7110 and Edwards 998. The Edwards men claimed that Bell county cast 995 votes for Edwards and (iS5 for Hunter. With Bell county eliminated the committee by a vote of 15 to 1 awarded the certificate to Edwards, the returns showing a vote of 1 :i,215 for Edwards and 12,399 for Hunter. New York, Sept. 23.—Refusing to discuss the charges made against him personally in the Democratic stafe platform adopted at the Saratoga convention, Governor Odell, who Is conferring with the Republican state committee at the Fifth Avenue hotel, has issued a long statement replying to other features of that platform. The governor said was the first of a series which would appear during the next month. Word comes from Vosburg, Wyoming county of the perpetration of one of the most atrocious crimes ever heard of in this section, when Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gibbons, an aged couple, residing at that place, were set upon by masked men at an early hour this morning ami given a terrible beating, because they refused to divulge the-hiding place of their money. Mrs. Gibbons is' in a critical state and it is thought that her back was broken by one of her assailants. One of the men who participated iu the deed was captured and is now iu the Wyoming county jail at Tunkhannock, while a diligent search is being made for the other two. When the count was finally proceeded with the committee by a vote of 15 to 1 decided to throw out the vote of Bell county? which, according to the Hunter men, gave Hunter 1,7110 and Edwards 998. The Edwards men claimed that Bell county cast 995 votes for Edwards and (iS5 for Hunter. With Bell county eliminated the committee by a vote of 15 to 1 awarded the certificate to Edwards, the returns showing a vote of 1 :i,215 for Edwards and 12,399 for Hunter. New York, Sept. 23.—Refusing to discuss the charges made against him personally in the Democratic stafe platform adopted at the Saratoga convention, Governor Odell, who Is conferring with the Republican state committee at the Fifth Avenue hotel, has issued a long statement replying to other features of that platform. The governor said was the first of a series which would appear during the next month. Word comes from Vosburg, Wyoming county of the perpetration of one of the most atrocious crimes ever heard of in this section, when Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gibbons, an aged couple, residing at that place, were set upon by masked men at an early hour this morning ami given a terrible beating, because they refused to divulge the-hiding place of their money. Mrs. Gibbons is' in a critical state and it is thought that her back was broken by one of her assailants.
