From a political standpoint it Is highly satisfactory. for the Novik could have been most dangerous as a commerce destroyer, but considering the matter from a sentimental standpoint much regret is expressed at the loss. The Novik has been splendidly handled and bravely fought throughout tlie war, and Japanese naval officers and the public generally have frequently expressed admiration for the cruiser, her commander and her crew.
