Stewart as a "suspicious person" lias revived all the excitement among the friends of Henry Ruxter Klngsley that attended his disappearance from this city Nov. 14, 1903. Stewart is said to have been the last person seen with Jfingsley. He was arraigned in the Tombs police court before Magistrate Tool by Detective Sergeant Mulligan. Saratoga, N. Y., June 27.—The First National bai k, of this city, closed its. doors this morning, by order of the comptroller of the currency. A run was started on this institution Saturday, as a result of the run on thfe Citizens' bank caused by bad investments and alleged irregularities on tho part of the cashier. The First National was in lo condition to meet demands, and the government examiner was instructed not to permit the bank to reopen tnis morning if there was any indication of a continuation of the run. W. B. Gage is president of t'he% First National and William Hay Bockes, cashier The bank has a capital of $125,000. and the surplus and undivided profits amount to $100,000. The general staff lias received tbe following dispatch from Lieutenant General Sakharoff: London, June 27.—The Times this morning prints a ten column dissertation 011 the Russo-Japanese war, written by Count Tolstoi in his most rabid and most violent style. The trend of this remarkable document is, first, against all war, but it is principally a thunderous philippic against the Rusrian government and the Russian Orthodox church and generally against the existing order of things. Tolstoi Denounces Russia. The detectives wanted to hold the man for forty-eight hours on a short affidavit, but the magistrate insisted on knowing the details of the case. It was then that the name of Sir. Kingsley wus mentioned and the connoctionv between the prisoner and his disappearance referred to. "On the morning of June 25 the enemy's advance guard, which was occupying the valley of the Kho river, ten tniles southwest of Kaichau, fell back nix miles. Marseilles, June 27.—The Messnseries Maritime!} steamer Oxus has sailed for Abyssinia with W. H. Ellis, carrying the box containing the commercial treaty between the ,1'nited States and Abyssinia with which Kent .T. Loom Is started from New York. Mr. Ellis was accompanied by a secretary and a servant. Careful inquiry altoard the ship and at the offices o£ Tie company showed that Mr. Loomis was not aboard the vessel. So far as can be ascertained Mr. Ellis had no information concerning the Whereabout of Mr. Loomis. The consulate here is also without information on the subject. Ellis Sails For Abyssinia. "On June 24 a Japanese detachment ef two companies of infantry and two squadrons of cavalry approached the village of Sladlan, in the mountains, seven miles from Kaichau, in a southerly direction. Burness, a stilor, who murdered Captain Town&end on hoard a schooner, in Brooklvn, last November, was electrocuted in Sing Sing prison at 5:52 this morn inf. Four shocks were given to the condemned man before he was pronounced dead. Burness was unattended, either by clergyman or keeper. He almost rail to the death chair, and while the chair was being adjusted he gaze , at the witnesses and smiled as though going to have his photograph taken. Burness confessed not only to the murder of Townsend, but al:o to nine other murders committed 'at various times. The vats in which Luetgert is supposed to have destroyed the body of his wife were burned with the rest of the building. The loss on the building and contents is $100,000. TOGO'S BIG VICTORY. An examination, however, showed that while the dead man resembled the missing man it was not him. Then the rewards, which had ranged from $500 to $1,000, were increased by Ilugh N. Baxter to $10,000 to any person who would produce the missing man alive or who would furnish proof to convict any person responsible for his death if he be dead. Cut Hay City of Mexico, June 27.—Official information has been received in this city by officials of the Mexican Central railroad stating that five persons lost their lives in a wreck which occurred on the Central railroad near Tampico. Montreal, June 27.—The first of the seven wireless stations which are being constructed by the Marconi company under agreement with the Canadian government has been opened for trade. It is situated at Fame point, 320 miles below Iluebre. The first steamer in connection with it was the Allan line steamship Parisian, outward bound from Montreal for Liverpool. Dixon company, manufacturers of heating apparatus, and his wife were killed In a collision with an electric car. Mr. Dixon's death was instantaneous. Flehve, minister of the interior, that there is no intention on the part of the Russian government to place upon the Finnish people the responsibility for the assassination of Governor General Borikoff by Eugen Schaumann. It Is as far from Russia's wish as It would be contrary to her Interests, the minister says, to destroy Finland, which has a history and traditions of its own. The general staff lias received tbe following dispatch from Lieutenant General Sakharoff: London, June 27.—The Times this morning prints a ten column dissertation 011 the Russo-Japanese war, written by Count Tolstoi in his most rabid and most violent style. The trend of this remarkable document is, first, against all war, but it is principally a thunderous philippic against the Rusrian government and the Russian Orthodox church and generally against the existing order of things. Tolstoi Denounces Russia. The detectives wanted to hold the man for forty-eight hours on a short affidavit, but the magistrate insisted on knowing the details of the case. "On June 24 a Japanese detachment ef two companies of infantry and two squadrons of cavalry approached the village of Sladlan, in the mountains, seven miles from Kaichau, in a southerly direction. He almost rail to the death chair, and while the chair was being adjusted he gaze , at the witnesses and smiled as though going to have his photograph taken. Burness confessed not only to the murder of Townsend, but al:o to nine other murders committed 'at various times. Montreal, June 27.—The first of the seven wireless stations which are being constructed by the Marconi company under agreement with the Canadian government has been opened for trade. It is situated at Fame point, 320 miles below Iluebre. The first steamer in connection with it was the Allan line steamship Parisian, outward bound from Montreal for Liverpool. Flehve, minister of the interior, that there is no intention on the part of the Russian government to place upon the Finnish people the responsibility for the assassination of Governor General Borikoff by Eugen Schaumann. It Is as far from Russia's wish as It would be contrary to her Interests, the minister says, to destroy Finland, which has a history and traditions of its own.
