Hundreds of Japanese fisher- Men are volunteering to assist in clearing away Russian mines, and it is probable that some of them will be used for tills work. Lycoming Valley, In Northern Peitn sylvania, Devastated Wllilamsport, Pa., June 0. — Enormous loss In crops and farm animals is reported for twenty-five miles along the Lycoming valley from Ralston to this city by a cloudburst over Ilradford and Lycoming counties. Whole farms have been practically carried away, landmarks have been blotted out. and houses have been carried far from their foundations. The I .or berry was struck on the starboard bow and sank within a few minutes. Captain Burroughs was on dock when the collision occurred and, rushing aft with tho steward, endeavored to clear tho boat. The barge, however, filled rapidly and sank before tho boat could be lowered. The steward clung to a piece of wreckage and was picked up. Three others of the crew, who ran to tho bow, climbed up tho anchor chains to the steamer. London, June fi.—A dispatch from Florence, Italy, reports the death in that city yesterday of Mrs. Samuel M. Clements, wife of "Mark Twain." Death was due to syncope and was very sudden. Mrs. Clements was, before her marriage. Miss Olivia D. and her early home was in Elmira, N. Y. Hundreds of Japanese fisher- Men are volunteering to assist in clearing away Russian mines, and it is probable that some of them will be used for tills work. Lycoming Valley, In Northern Peitn sylvania, Devastated Wllilamsport, Pa., June 0. — Enormous loss In crops and farm animals is reported for twenty-five miles along the Lycoming valley from Ralston to this city by a cloudburst over Ilradford and Lycoming counties. Whole farms have been practically carried away, landmarks have been blotted out. and houses have been carried far from their foundations. Captain Burroughs was on dock when the collision occurred and, rushing aft with tho steward, endeavored to clear tho boat. The barge, however, filled rapidly and sank before tho boat could be lowered. The steward clung to a piece of wreckage and was picked up.
