J., May 24.—Argument has been concluded before Judge Bradford In the United States circuit court here In the case of the application of K. H. Ilarriman and Wlnslow S. l'ierce to restrain the proposed plan of distribution of the assets of the Northern Securities company, which was decided by the United Statep supreme court to be an illegal combination. The concluding argument for the Northern Securities company was made by John O. Johnson of Philadelphia, und W. D. Guthrie of New York closed the argument In behalf of. the complainant. Capo May, N. J„ Muy 24.—The First National bank, of this town, has been closed by order of the comptroller of the currency. The bank was recontly reorganized and the present officers called Bank Examiner Buck here last evening. The depositors will be paid in full. It is said that tho troubles are due to the financial difficulties of Former President Dr. Wesley R. Wales. No Heavy Fighting on the Liaotung Peninsula. Indicted Promoter Missing Liaoyang, May 24.—There has been no fighting on land except small skirmishes in the Flncbouiing mountains, where the Japanese have many scattered divisions on the highroads and the defile extending over territory thirty miles wide from sixty to ninety miles east of Mukden. The Cossack patrols in here carried on an extensive reconnoissance of the section on Wednesday and Thursday under orders from General Kuropatkin and report that the largest division of the enemy, about six companies of infantry and three batteries of artillery, is northeast of Dnikeo. Smaller divisions ure south and north of Chensalin pass, and a small detachment of cavalry and Infantry was observed in the hills back of Suidientsz, sixty miles southeast of Mukden. The casualties are the same as those given in the Bourse report of a Port Arthur fight current yesterday, namely 15,000 Japanese casualties and 3,000 Russian. The Central News report locates the fight at Feng-Huang-Cheng. Paris, May 24—After the meeting of the council of ministers today a note was issued officially announcing the recall of M. Nisaro, Fronch ambassador to the Vatican. Boise, Ida., May 24.—The plant of the Highland Power company, on the Boise river, twenty miles above Boise, has been swept away, causing a loss of $150,000. The river had been dammed with a crib dam, and the power house itood under the river bank sixty feet below the darn. The plant was used for pumping water for placer mining. The home office of the company is in New Hampshire. Indicted Promoter Missing Liaoyang, May 24.—There has been no fighting on land except small skirmishes in the Flncbouiing mountains, where the Japanese have many scattered divisions on the highroads and the defile extending over territory thirty miles wide from sixty to ninety miles east of Mukden. The Cossack patrols in here carried on an extensive reconnoissance of the section on Wednesday and Thursday under orders from General Kuropatkin and report that the largest division of the enemy, about six companies of infantry and three batteries of artillery, is northeast of Dnikeo. Smaller divisions ure south and north of Chensalin pass, and a small detachment of cavalry and Infantry was observed in the hills back of Suidientsz, sixty miles southeast of Mukden. Boise, Ida., May 24.—The plant of the Highland Power company, on the Boise river, twenty miles above Boise, has been swept away, causing a loss of $150,000. The river had been dammed with a crib dam, and the power house itood under the river bank sixty feet below the darn. The plant was used for pumping water for placer mining. The home office of the company is in New Hampshire.
