In his latest musical comedy hit, "Peggy From Paris," which comes to the Broad Feb. 12, George Ade, the author, early introduces a quaint bit of comedy which he calls "An Ode to an Oyster Stew." It is irresistibly amusing, as audiences have found wherever the play has been produced. Mr. Ade recently explained how he came to write this ode. The famous humorist spent his boyhood in Kentland, Ind. He tells that the unfailing means of raising money for any semi-public purpose was to give an oyster supper. As the family with whom h© lived were public spirited, they invariably made him the agent of their generosity and sent him to all the supp3rs,. The oyster stews at these according to Mr: Ade's experience, consisted oif warm water and milk, with grease •floating on the surface. If such a thing as an oyster formed any part whatsoever of the concoction, Mr. Ade never discovered it. He declares that he became so disgusted with those oyster suppers that the very mention of one made him ill. His long-endured misery at last found vent in the "Ode to an Oyster Stew." In his latest musical comedy hit, "Peggy From Paris," which comes to the Broad Feb. His long-endured misery at last found vent in the "Ode to an Oyster Stew."
