Pittsburg, Dec. 11.—A serious Are occurred In the Armstrong Cork Factory, at 23d street and the Allegheny Valley railroad, at 9.30 this morning. It started in the grinding room on the second floor and gained rapid readway. About 600 men and girls are em/ ployed and 100 girls were carried bv the police and firemen from the second story by means of ladders. The follow, lng were seriously burned and were removed to a hospital: George Frlel James Kennan, Thomas Hannan, Andrew Kerr, Thomas Fitzgerald and William Bockford. Bobert Hamlin it missing and is supposed to be buried under the debris of the first floor. The fire was due to tho double explosion of a motor and boiler. Butler, Pa., Dcc. 11.—One death occurred here during last night from typhoid. The victim was Frank Bellls, aged 27 years. His mother, brother Charles and sister are also down with the fever. Fifty-two deaths have now occurred from fever. Five new cases were reported yesterday. Lamar, who claimed to be the list surviving schoolmate of Abraham Lincoln, has just died in Huffaloville, lud., at the age of eighty-live. At the navy department It is announced that the marine contingent on the isthmus would be re-enforced by :HXD men now on the Prairie, orders having been scut to Admiral Barker, commanding the north Atlantic squadron, at Guantanamo, to dispatch the Prairie to the isthmus. She will sail today and will reach Colon by Monday. It Is felt that thus re-enforced the marines now 011 the isthmus will be fully competent to preserve order and prevent any invasion. Pittsburg, Dec. 11.—A serious Are occurred In the Armstrong Cork Factory, at 23d street and the Allegheny Valley railroad, at 9.30 this morning. It started in the grinding room on the second floor and gained rapid readway. About 600 men and girls are em/ ployed and 100 girls were carried bv the police and firemen from the second story by means of ladders. Butler, Pa., Dcc. 11.—One death occurred here during last night from typhoid. The victim was Frank Bellls, aged 27 years. His mother, brother Charles and sister are also down with the fever. Fifty-two deaths have now occurred from fever. Five new cases were reported yesterday. The Marquis Salonje, president of the upper house, claims that the reply ol the lower house was submitted without proper notice. J. \V. Lamar, who claimed to be the list surviving schoolmate of Abraham Lincoln, has just died in Huffaloville, lud., at the age of eighty-live. At the navy department It is announced that the marine contingent on the isthmus would be re-enforced by :HXD men now on the Prairie, orders having been scut to Admiral Barker, commanding the north Atlantic squadron, at Guantanamo, to dispatch the Prairie to the isthmus. She will sail today and will reach Colon by Monday. It Is felt that thus re-enforced the marines now 011 the isthmus will be fully competent to preserve order and prevent any invasion. Stamford, Conn., Dec. 11. — Isaac Wardwell and his twin sister. Sirs. Betsey Hoyt, the widow of the Itev. William C. Hoyt, are eighty-eight years old and celebrated the event by holding a birthday party at Mrs. Hoyt's residence, 55 River street.
