General Torres, commanding the Colombian troops at Colon, has refused to follow the example of Panama and secede from the Colombian government. He has even threatened to send troops from Colon against Panama, If the latter city doesn't surrender. It Is reported that Colombian soldiers at Colon yesterday threatened to burn the city and murder all the sympathizing with the Revolutionists, as well as all the Americans in the city. The latter have appealed for protection from the American cruiser Nashville, which is in Colon harbor. The gunboats Padllla and Chucuito, which are In the service of the Revolutionists, left here today in search of the Colombian gunboat Bogota, which on Tuesday llred on Panama. It was known that one of the parties to the intrigue came to Washington three weeks ago and sought an interview with Secretary Hay. The counter plotter followed him here and warned the state department of the Intention of the cabal to make overtures. New York, Nov. 5.—George B. Wright has been allied with the independent wing of the. Republican party in Cincinnati. A Bonnet Is Just the Thing. Panama, Nov. 5.—The situation on the Isthmus this morning is most serious. General Torres, commanding the Colombian troops at Colon, has refused to follow the example of Panama and secede from the Colombian government. He has even threatened to send troops from Colon against Panama, If the latter city doesn't surrender. It Is reported that Colombian soldiers at Colon yesterday threatened to burn the city and murder all the sympathizing with the Revolutionists, as well as all the Americans in the city. The latter have appealed for protection from the American cruiser Nashville, which is in Colon harbor. The gunboats Padllla and Chucuito, which are In the service of the Revolutionists, left here today in search of the Colombian gunboat Bogota, which on Tuesday llred on Panama. It was known that one of the parties to the intrigue came to Washington three weeks ago and sought an interview with Secretary Hay. The counter plotter followed him here and warned the state department of the Intention of the cabal to make overtures. New York, Nov. 5.—George B.
