There is good beer and bad beer; costly beer and cheap beer; and some beer so bad that it does not deserve the name of beer at all. We claim that Stegmaier's Beer is the purest, richest, and finest beer in the market today. It has stood the test of time and its superior excellence has never been surpassed. Order a case from our cold storage at once and be convinced. The death sentence was then read to Jett by Clerk T. J. Robinson, after which Jett was given over to the custody of the deputy sheriffs. Washington, Sept. 23.—The date for the exchange of ratifications of the Ilay-Herran Panama canal treaty expired at midnight with absolutely nothing done toward ratification by the Colombian congress so far as either the state department or Dr. Thomas Herran, the Colombian charge d'affaires la Washington, has been informed of. Jott, who is said to have slain forty men, was accused in the present case of the assassination of his own cousin. The trial was pressed after Jett had escaped the gallows on his second trial for the murder of Judge J. B. Marcum. The Cockrill murder grew out of a feud started In 1832 about the marrlago of Miss Virginia Bulton and William Sewull of Jackson. During the last two years, it is said, twenty-seven persons hare been murdered both by the Hargls and Cockrill factions, which took opposite sides. Jett sided with the Iiargls combination. Judge Weand Immediately discharged McElmoyle, who will be called as a witness In the case of W. A. Ronemus, a fellow deputy, who will be placed on trial today charged with the killing of Sharpe. The defeat of the treaty is generally ascribed to Colombian politics. A presidential election is to take place In Colombia In December, and the price to be obtained for the canal concession Is looked to as a means of lifting the government out of the present depressed financial condition. Each of the candidates for the presidency, of whom there are Several, naturally wishes to control the situation, and each, therefore, has opposed conclusion of the negotiations at the present session of the Colombian congress. The cities of Trenton and Paterson votstl strongly against the amendments. In Paterson the majority against the amendments was 1,501 and In the city of Trenton about the same.
