Man Who Buried His Victim in a Moat Chelmsford, England, July 14.—Sam- Samuel Herbert Dougal this morning paid the penalty of his murder of Miss Camille Homand, at Moat House, Saffron Waldon. The report from the bedside of the sick pontiff this morning at an early hour was that he had suffered another relapse and that he lay in a more critical condition than at any time since the middle of last week. Chicago, July 14.—The 2,500 woodworkers employed in the bar fixture factories in Chicago, who went on strike ten days ago for a uniform wage of 25 and 28 cents an hour, returned to work this morning. The Woodwork Manufacturers' association acceded to the demands of the strikers. Woodworkers Return to Work. Secretary Root left for Washington this morning at 8:50 o'clock. He and the president hare considered the Alaskan boundary question with some care during hit visit. The secretary will leave for London on the steamer Celtic oil Aug. 23. Last night, accom penled by another negro, he forcibly entered the house of James Grant, in the suburbs of this city, and outraged Viola Grant, a lG-year-old girl. "We Judges of the bench are powerless to act on this question. We cannot take the Initiative step until the cases are brought under our Jurisdiction. Our hands arc virtually folded. Somebody must prosecute before the law can take Its course. Soledad, Venezuela, July 14.—Soledad, which is a strategic position opposite Ciudad Bolivar, on the Orinoco river, has been taken by government troops. Many civilians came overland with the government forces from Maturin and witnessed the shelling of the strong trenches constructed along the river front before Ciudad Bolivar by the revolutionists. It Is believed that the government troops will make a landing on thnt side of the river upon the arrival of General Gomez, the government commander in chief, who is expected hourly with a fleet which will co-operate in a general attack on the city. J., July 14.—Louisa Williams, the fifteen-year-old daughter of George Williams, alias Henry Wilson, who is serving n sentence of live years in the Rahwny reformatory for perjury, is locked up in the First precinct police station to await trial in the juvenile court for swindling. OBSEQUIES OF YOUNG MAN Negro Kills Negro. Hayes' Squibs — MAGNET Mount Vernon, N. V., July 14.—Ell Brown, a negro coachman employed by M. C. Kellogg, former president of the Bank of Mount Vernon, was shot and killed by Terry Grlggins, also a negro coachmnn, in front of the city hall. This morning occurred one of thrD largest funerals seen In Upper Pittston in years, when John Donohoe, the young man who was killed by a fall of rock In Barnum shaft on Saturday, was laid to rest. The remains were taken from the home of his mother, on Chapel street, to St. Mary's church, where, at 9.30, a high mass of requiem was sung by Father, O'Malley. Interment was' made in St. Mary's cemetery. Division 13, A. O. H., attended the funeral in a body. There was a large number of beautiful floral offerings, conspicuous among which were a pillow from Division 13, A. O. H., and gates ajar, from the companions of the deceased. Y., July 14.—James Martin, agod twelve, was killed here in a singular accident. Some linemen were running a heavy wire along poles, and the hoy was swinging on the wire when it was suddenly pulled taut. He was jerked to the top of the pole before he let go. Soledad, Venezuela, July 14.—Soledad, which is a strategic position opposite Ciudad Bolivar, on the Orinoco river, has been taken by government troops. Many civilians came overland with the government forces from Maturin and witnessed the shelling of the strong trenches constructed along the river front before Ciudad Bolivar by the revolutionists. Kellogg, former president of the Bank of Mount Vernon, was shot and killed by Terry Grlggins, also a negro coachmnn, in front of the city hall. This morning occurred one of thrD largest funerals seen In Upper Pittston in years, when John Donohoe, the young man who was killed by a fall of rock In Barnum shaft on Saturday, was laid to rest. The remains were taken from the home of his mother, on Chapel street, to St. Mary's church, where, at 9.30, a high mass of requiem was sung by Father, O'Malley. Interment was' made in St. Mary's cemetery. Division 13, A. O. H., attended the funeral in a body.
