GOVERNOR tffcltBjfN The relief afforded by the Becond operation Is expected to prolong life at least 24 hours. At the end of that time another operation will probably be necessary. Whether the Pope wil'. be able to stand another puncture Is doubtful'. In the meantime, his strength is simply wearing out. Dr. Rossini, after the operation, declared that the prelate's mind is so clear and keen that even the most experienced physician might easily be misled as to the gravity of the patient's condition. He believes, however, there is no hope for his recovery. Some of the windows of the Pope's apartments were opened at 5.45 this morning.
