August Keane, a miner at No. 6, was burned by a gas explosion yesterday afternoon. The burns are about his face and hands, but the hospital authorities do not consider them serious. C„ June 6.—The rivers in the western part of South Carolina are on a rampage. The fioGd has destroyed Pacolet mills No. 1 arid No. 2 and Clifton mill No. 4, in Spartanburg. The Facolet river Is CO feet above low water mark. All of the bridges on the Southern railroad have been washed away. It is reported that 30 lives were lost by the washing away of the mills. Stanley Daneskl, who was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday suffering from injuries received in the Columbia mine, died there shortly after 12 o'clock today. His death was rather sudden, as his condition seemed to be improving. No relatives of the deceased have been discovered. His home was In Duryea. SHupp St. Louie, Mo., June 6.—The flood in the Mississippi, although probably three feet below the stage which its crest will bring, has wrought disaster and Buffering to St. Louis and the cities and towns and farming districts direcHy across the river. One thousand people are homeless. The weather bu reau predicts 37.2 feet, possibly 38 feet by Tuesday. Thlrtj'-seven feet makes certain an appalling inundation of EaBt St. Louis, Madison. Oranlte, Oranite City and Venice, 111. East St. Louis cannot cscape a flood which will be worse than that of 1892. Fully l,0u0 people are homeless on an island between the pumping station, on the north, and Sandy Hook, on the south. At 9 o'clock this morning the river was pouring over the levee north of the Eads bridge efnd through a cut in the Wabash embankment. The great Sny levee, which extends for along the Illinois shore from Hannibal northward, broke yesterday, and the waters rushed through the crevasse to devastate thousands of acres of fertile farming lands. This levee Is fifteen miles long, and for days men have been working to strengthen it, but the river found a weak point in a newer main, and the water brake through like a geyser. West Granite, a town of 2,000 people, la located in a depression between the levee and a railroad embankment. C„ June 6.—The rivers in the western part of South Carolina are on a rampage. The fioGd has destroyed Pacolet mills No. 1 arid No. 2 and Clifton mill No. 4, in Spartanburg. The Facolet river Is CO feet above low water mark. All of the bridges on the Southern railroad have been washed away. It is reported that 30 lives were lost by the washing away of the mills. Stanley Daneskl, who was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday suffering from injuries received in the Columbia mine, died there shortly after 12 o'clock today. His death was rather sudden, as his condition seemed to be improving. No relatives of the deceased have been discovered. His home was In Duryea. SHupp St. Louie, Mo., June 6.—The flood in the Mississippi, although probably three feet below the stage which its crest will bring, has wrought disaster and Buffering to St. Louis and the cities and towns and farming districts direcHy across the river. One thousand people are homeless. The weather bu reau predicts 37.2 feet, possibly 38 feet by Tuesday. Thlrtj'-seven feet makes certain an appalling inundation of EaBt St. Louis, Madison. Oranlte, Oranite City and Venice, 111. East St. Louis cannot cscape a flood which will be worse than that of 1892. Fully l,0u0 people are homeless on an island between the pumping station, on the north, and Sandy Hook, on the south. At 9 o'clock this morning the river was pouring over the levee north of the Eads bridge efnd through a cut in the Wabash embankment. The great Sny levee, which extends for along the Illinois shore from Hannibal northward, broke yesterday, and the waters rushed through the crevasse to devastate thousands of acres of fertile farming lands. This levee Is fifteen miles long, and for days men have been working to strengthen it, but the river found a weak point in a newer main, and the water brake through like a geyser. West Granite, a town of 2,000 people, la located in a depression between the levee and a railroad embankment.
