SHupp Lorraine, Ohio, May 1.—A terrible murder was committed here last night at the home of Rev. Father Rlchlleu, a Catholic priest. Father Rlchlleu was out of town. His sister, a beautiful woman of 30 years, keeps house for him. About midnight, another priest living In the house, heard Miss Relchlan cry out and rushed to the rescue. He was confronted by a man In the hall, who roughly pushed him aside and leaped through a window. The priest found Miss Reichlan dead in her room, with her skull crushed. The murder* was done with a large stana*. In the downward rush of the debris and other material that was thrown up by the upheaval the entire operation plant of the French - Canadian Coal company 'was carried away. Seven houses, also owned by the company, were smashed to pieces, six of thein being obliterated and their occupants killed, while ten other bouses which were situated in the valley cast of the town were also demolished. Persons living in these houses also were instantly killed as they "slept. Watsonvllle, ten miles south ttt this city, at first reported as being destroyed, has escaped as by a miracle. Nearly a thousand persons were employed In fighting the fire at Best's sawmill, a mile from Cortesi, and for two hours, on account of the high wind that prevailed, it required the services of everybody In that vicinity to prevent the mill and buildings from destruction. Harrisburg, Pa., May 1.—Governor Pennypacker has vetoed the Grady bill giving to railroads the right to take dwellings under eminent domain proceedings. SHupp Lorraine, Ohio, May 1.—A terrible murder was committed here last night at the home of Rev. Father Rlchlleu, a Catholic priest. Father Rlchlleu was out of town. His sister, a beautiful woman of 30 years, keeps house for him. About midnight, another priest living In the house, heard Miss Relchlan cry out and rushed to the rescue. He was confronted by a man In the hall, who roughly pushed him aside and leaped through a window. The priest found Miss Reichlan dead in her room, with her skull crushed. The murder* was done with a large stana*. In the downward rush of the debris and other material that was thrown up by the upheaval the entire operation plant of the French - Canadian Coal company 'was carried away. Seven houses, also owned by the company, were smashed to pieces, six of thein being obliterated and their occupants killed, while ten other bouses which were situated in the valley cast of the town were also demolished. Persons living in these houses also were instantly killed as they "slept. Montreal, May 1.—Handcuffed, gagged, a knife wound In his leg and threatened with death if he did not give $50,000 in blackmail,. Canicht In * Trap. Bradford, Pa., May 1.—The worst forest fires in the history of this section of Pennsylvania are raging, mid $1,000,- 000 worth of property has been destroyed. The forests have been ablaze for the last week, but the fires were kept under control by large bands of men until yesterday, when a stiff southeast 'gale developed. Watsonvllle, ten miles south ttt this city, at first reported as being destroyed, has escaped as by a miracle. Nearly a thousand persons were employed In fighting the fire at Best's sawmill, a mile from Cortesi, and for two hours, on account of the high wind that prevailed, it required the services of everybody In that vicinity to prevent the mill and buildings from destruction. Harrisburg, Pa., May 1.—Governor Pennypacker has vetoed the Grady bill giving to railroads the right to take dwellings under eminent domain proceedings. The purpose of the bill was to enable railroads to secure property needed by them In making improvements to their lines and the extension of their shops. Water Valuable In Venice. In Venice water Is somewhat of a luxury, as the inhabitants have to depend upon the minx, and there is no company for supplying the city. The water for drinking and domestic uses is collected in subterranean reservoirs, where It is said to be filtered.
