Pittsburg, April 7.—When forty-one nonunion men were landed here from Tennessee by the American Bridge company to help break the strike, twenty-three of them were kidnaped by the strikers and iDersuaded not to go to work. When the. new men, escorted by policemen and detectives, were loaded into buses at the Union station, the strikers surrounded the vehicles and succeeded In pulling the driver of one of the buses from his place and substituting one of their own men. The usurper whipped up his horses, and in spite of threats of the officers to use their revolvers tlie bus dashed through the streets to union headquarters, where the twenty-three terror striken men were taken in hand by the strikers and prevailed upon not to go to work. J., April 7.—Annie M. Hilderbrandt, the young trained nurse of Orange who was recently convicted of havlufc shot and seriously wounded Bernard J. McCallam at Orange, was sentenced to six months' Imprisonment in the county Jail. When arraigned for sentence, she asked that she be sent to prison for life, saying that her life had been ruined and she might as well spend what remained of It in jail. Doctors say neuralgia is not dangerous. This is poor consolation to a sufferer who feels as if his face were pierced with hot needles and torn a thousand pairs of pincers. Albanians Are Said to Have Slain London, April 7.—According to an unconfirmed private telegram from NIbIi published In the Vecherna Ponhta, a Sofia newspaper, large numbess of Albanians attacked the town of Okhrlda on Sunday night and massacred the Christian population. The Sofia correspondent of the Times, who sends the foregoing, says a conflict Is reported from Meinlk between a Bulgarian band and a Turkish force, the latter accompanied by German officers. The engagement lasted three days, the revolutionary band suffering heavily. Christians In Olchrlda. The Republicans retained control of Cincinnati and the Democrats of Cleveland, and Samuel SI. .Tones was elected for the fourth time as mayor of Toledo. The Democrats elected their tickets at Dayton, Sandusky, Chillicothe, Hamilton and other cities normally Democratic and the Republicans at Steubenvllle, Youngstown, Warren, Ironton, Portsmouth and other towns that they have heretofore controlled. Pittsburg, April 7.—When forty-one nonunion men were landed here from Tennessee by the American Bridge company to help break the strike, twenty-three of them were kidnaped by the strikers and iDersuaded not to go to work. When the. new men, escorted by policemen and detectives, were loaded into buses at the Union station, the strikers surrounded the vehicles and succeeded In pulling the driver of one of the buses from his place and substituting one of their own men. The usurper whipped up his horses, and in spite of threats of the officers to use their revolvers tlie bus dashed through the streets to union headquarters, where the twenty-three terror striken men were taken in hand by the strikers and prevailed upon not to go to work. J., April 7.—Annie M. Hilderbrandt, the young trained nurse of Orange who was recently convicted of havlufc shot and seriously wounded Bernard J. McCallam at Orange, was sentenced to six months' Imprisonment in the county Jail. When arraigned for sentence, she asked that she be sent to prison for life, saying that her life had been ruined and she might as well spend what remained of It in jail. Doctors say neuralgia is not dangerous. This is poor consolation to a sufferer who feels as if his face were pierced with hot needles and torn a thousand pairs of pincers.
