Superintendent Bull said he knew nothing regarding the reported action and at her home today Miss Hutchinson said: "I know nothing of a suit against the Buffalo police force. Paterson, N. J., March 10.—John VanDree and his wife, who have been missing since Sunday, were found dead today from coal gas at their home at 154 Ryerson avenue. Y„ March 10.—It is now believed' that at least 25 were killod and 40 injured by the explosion of oil which followed the wreck of a freight train on the Erie railroad, east of this place, last night. Many of the injured will die, and the death list may reach 30. The local hospitals are crowded with victims, while many were taken to their homes. Fourteen bodies have already been recovered, six of whom have been identified. Many of the unfortunates were so badly burned that Identification is utterly impossible. All the clothing was burned off some bodies and the flesh cooked to a crisp. The bodies of t(iree of the dead were found in Olean creek. They had plunged into the water to extinguish the flames of their oil-soaked clothing and were either drowned or suffered death from the effects of their burns. Friends and relatives of missing men and boys are flocking about the undertaking establishments trying to identify the charred victims. The search of the wreck is proceeding slowly and preparations are being made toward dragging Olean creek for bodies. New York, March 10— Ex-President Cleveland, who is visiting at the home of Oscar S. Straus, 5 West Seventysixth street, has been interviewed by a reporter of the New York Times. Mr. Cleveland snid: Cambridge, Mass., March 10.—George I,. O. Perry, the negro lad who was indicted for the murders of Miss Agne« Mel'hee of Somerville and Miss Clara Morton of Waverly, made a confession when he realized that he could not live, and now that he Is dead Sheriff Fairbairn has made public what he said. Y„ March 10.—William Nestle, a New York Central trackman, was instantly killed this morning near St. Johnsville by fast mall No. C. He was 54 years old and a veteran of the Civil War. "My errand here has no [folitjcal significance of any kind, any more than when I came here to attend the services in memory of Mr. Hewitt. Shortly after noon today, little Nellie McLaughlin stumbled while attempting to cross Scott street, Wilkesbarre, In front of a car, and was so seriously injured that she died in a few moments. The children in that part of the city have a practice of running across the streets Just before the trolley car passes. This little threeyear old tot was struck by the beam at the front of the car, but Motorman Condren brought It to a stop before the wheels had crushed her. Vanwort, one of the best knowr early day placer miners of the stute said: New York, March 10.—The Anchor Line steamer Karamanla, from Marseilles, Palermo and Naples, Is detained at Quarantine, because a number of her crew and passengers died under peculiar circumstances on the voyage. Six died in all, two of the crew and four passengers. All were taken with the same symptoms— cramps, nausea and final collapse. It is thought they were poisoned some noxious gases emanating from the cargo. All of the passenger victims occupied adjoining bunks In the steerage. They were all buried at sea. C., March 10.—Edward Ilugheg, a prominent young man of I.a Grange, has been shot and mortally ■wounded by Jesse L. Kennedy at Kinston. Iu a fight at La Grange some weeks ago Hughes struck Will Kennedy, Jesse's son, over the head with a billiard cue. The case was tried yesterday, Hughes submitting nud paying the cost. After the trial the Kennedy and Hughes families quarreled in front of the courthouse, and the shooting followed. The doctors think llughcd cannot live. Kennedy was arrested. Philadelphia, March 10.—Frank Hold, a wealthy hat manufacturer of this city, died on a train while on his way home from Florida. lie had gone to Florida on a pleasure trip. He was not ill when ho boarded the train, but after passing Baltimore lie was stricken with cerebral hemorrhage, which caused his death. SHARPS MARKET. New Orleans, March 10.—Dr. W. Y„ March 10.—It is now believed' that at least 25 were killod and 40 injured by the explosion of oil which followed the wreck of a freight train on the Erie railroad, east of this place, last night. Many of the injured will die, and the death list may reach 30. The local hospitals are crowded with victims, while many were taken to their homes. Fourteen bodies have already been recovered, six of whom have been identified. Many of the unfortunates were so badly burned that Identification is utterly impossible. All the clothing was burned off some bodies and the flesh cooked to a crisp. The bodies of t(iree of the dead were found in Olean creek. They had plunged into the water to extinguish the flames of their oil-soaked clothing and were either drowned or suffered death from the effects of their burns. Friends and relatives of missing men and boys are flocking about the undertaking establishments trying to identify the charred victims. The search of the wreck is proceeding slowly and preparations are being made toward dragging Olean creek for bodies. New York, March 10— Ex-President Cleveland, who is visiting at the home of Oscar S. Straus, 5 West Seventysixth street, has been interviewed by a reporter of the New York Times. Mr. Cleveland snid: Cambridge, Mass., March 10.—George I,. O. Six died in all, two of the crew and four passengers. All were taken with the same symptoms— cramps, nausea and final collapse.
