Freeman, chairman of the United Community Campaign's Delaware County department, recently emphasized that a goal of $293,000 has been set for 6,922 local volunteers during the period October 16-November 15. Freeman reported that the 1957 goal for the county, $293,000, is an increase of $19,000 over the amount raised in Delaware County last year. "The increase," he pointed out, "is necessitated by demands on services of our local agencies which could not be met last year. We must raise the minimum goal this year." Freeman announced that contributors will have an opportunity this year to pay their campaign pledges on the installment plan. "Modern economy is based on budgeted financing," he said, "and now we can budget our gifts—as we do purchases of autos, furnishings and insurance— to cover our share of support to the 250 agencies and services of the campaign." He cited two ways to give: at places of employment through payroll deduction or other budgeted giving plans, and at homes, through monthly budgeted payments. He explained that the UCC has worked out a monthly payment plan especially designed far such contributors as homemakers, other family members, and retired individuals. A gift of 10 dollars, he said, can be paid in monthly installments of one dollar each. Campaign leaders are confident that the budgeted giving plan will result in larger contributions as givers will not be "out of pocket" the full amount at one time. The major organizations included in the United Community Campaign are: the American Bed Cross, 154 Community Chest agencies, Salvation Army, Arthritis and Rheumatism Foundation, Mental Health Association, United Cerebral Palsy Association, and the Pennsylvania United Fund-USO. President Eisenhower recently praised the health and welfare agencies for "this kind of unity". "With skill and compassion these, agencies unite to serve all the needs of all the people", he said. Referring to the responsibility of communities he continued, "and the community is strong and healthy only when its citizens care enough and share enough to make it .that way." Bob McHenry Joins PMQ Coafching Staff Bob McHenry, former Swarthmore High School athlete and captain of the basketball team at Washington and Lee University last season, has been appointed assistant basketball coach at Pennsylvania Military College, Director of Athletics George A. Hansell has announced. Bob, a brother of Bill McHenry, assistant varsity football coach and head swimming mentor at PMC, also captained the basketball team at Swarthmore High School in 1951-52 and as an end on the football team was 'chosen to the All-Delco second team. A resident of Parrish road, Bob also starred in lacrosse at W. and L. and was a letterman for two years. Last June he played in the North-South All-Star lacrosse game in Geneva, N.
