Page 8 1BE SWAKTHMOUEAN July 27, 1956 Boy Scouts Return From Camp Delmont . An energetic group of 21 Swarthmore Boy Scouts returned from a busy two week stay at Camp Delmont last Sunday. Led by Bob Warden of Yale avenue the boys occupied a different camp site this year which was further away from the center of camp and more secluded than last year's site. Despite a fairly rainy and cool two weeks the scouts earned several merit badges and advancements in rank. Gareld Gray moved from Tenderfoot to Second Clas«- during his stay. Kris Ungern, John Bond, Guy Smith and Gerald Gray earned the basketry merit badge. Other merit badges were awarded to Bob Beckmann, Indian lore and rowing; Johnny Seybold, life saving; and Doug Wrege, rowing and swimming. Many other scouts did work toward merit badges which, according to the camp set-up, could not be completed at camp. In competition with 11 other troops the Swarthmore Scouts won first place in the Delmont Olympics their second week in camp. In competing for this honor, Swarthmore tied for first place in the nature contest, second in campcraft, third in running races and second place in the water carnival. Bob Beckmann earned first place for the troop in wood- carving and Arthur Loeben captured third in rifle marksmanship. During their stay in camp Doug Wrege and Fred Kellermann were initiated into the Order of the Arrow, National Scout honor so- ciety. Robert Holm to Conduct Band Concert Robert tyl. Holm, Broomau, director of Swarthmore High School and Swarthmore College Bands, and associate conducter of the Chester Elks' Band in Glen Providence Park, will direct the Band at its next concert Thursday, August 2, at 8 p.m. Mr. Holm is well known in Delaware County for his band work and is also Past President of the Southeastern District of the Pennsylvania Music Educators' Association. He has been guest conducter at Glen Providence concerts in previous years. Vocal soloist of the evening will be Margaret Bell Zurbrick of Lawrence Park. She received her education in music at Rawlins College, Winter Park, Fla., and is also a graduate of Florida State University. .• The park is sprayed for mosquito control before each concert, for the comfort of its patrons. Glen Providence Park is located at the west end of State Street hear the Baltimore Pike in Media. Dr. and Mrs. Daniel J. Marino of Park avenue entertained for two weeks Mr. and Mrs. Anthony L'Episcopo of Hollis, L. I. and their children Anthony, Charles and Angela. Mrs. L'Episcopo is Dr. Marino's sister and Mr. L'Episcopo is Mrs. Marino's brother. - • Mrs. William S. Hobbs and her mother Mrs. Geneve Mohney of Park avenue are visiting in Ridgeway. Mrs. John M. Moore of Whittier place, accompanied by her mother Mrs. Joseph Whiteside of Claremont, Calif., returned Monday on the Stockholm from a two-month trip to England, France and Denmark. Mrs. Whiteside leaves next week to return to her home in California. Presbyterian Pension Bd.
