This year’s Community Service will be truly ecumenical. It will combine the formey Community Service an<| the Services held at the Sewickley Presbyterian and St. Stephen’s Episcopal , Churches. ‘ The frame,of the Service will be one used at St. Stephen's for many years. It is based on the ancient Tenebrae Service, which symbolizes the apparent victory of the powers of darltness over the Lord Jesus but their actual failure to put. out His light. Eight “candles will be'on the altar. The largest one in the center will represent Jesus the Light of the World. It will be lit as^-the clergy enter. As each of the seven .Sentences from the Cross are-read from Scripture one of the other candles 'will be lit from the Christ candle. At the end of the Service, all the seven candles will be extinguished and all other lightsj,vill he turned off and the Christ candle hidden until the final Benediction.
