In an old-fasbioned melodramat showboatstyle, the plot thickens when somebody finds a basket in the barn. What is in the basket? Now would we give the plot away? No, no, a thousand times, NO. Obviously in awe over the contents are players in “Pure As A Driven Snow.” They are, I. to r., Jonathan Logan (Tony Renda); his wife, Zamma, played by Pat Tahoe; the hero, Liander Longfellow (Scott Reilly); E. Z. Pickens (Sig Tragard); and Alison Hewlitt, who is Kathy Boehmig in real life. The show is currently playing nightly at 7 p.m. on the Liberty Bell, dockside at Pittsburgh’s Station Square. Directed by Pam Gregg of Edgeworth, the three-act play is a fund-raiser for the Child Health Association of Sewickley. (See Page 6 and 7 for more pictures and story.) (Photo by Eric Hamlin) Miss Walker dies at 86 ONE HORSE OPEN SLEIGH. Miss Walker gave the town a touch of yesteryear, delighting young and old, when she went dashing through the snow. (Photo by Doris Evans) Services were held Monday afternoon, March 4, at Shields Presbyterian Church for Katharine Wilson Walker, who died of a heart attack in her Edgeworth home, “Muottas,” late Thursday afternoon, Feb. 28. Although delicate in health recently, Miss Walker still retained an interest in church and community affairs. She attended the showing of travel films in North Hills on Wednesday, and had driven her horse, Danny Boy, over to the Watson Hospital on Thursday. She was the daughter of the late William and Jane DU1 Wilson Walker, who built the family home in 1904-05 on a large tract of land in present-day Edgeworth and Leet Township. Her father was the founder of Harbison-Walker Refractories Co. of Pittsburgh, now a division of Dresser Industries. The death of Katharine Walker, known to many as Kathy, closes -a chapter in history. Scores of.residents remember how, as children, they went up the long drive to “Muottas” in winter for sled-riding parties. Sleds were transported up the hill by one of Miss Walker’s dogs, always one of a working breed called bouvier des Flandres. Summer picnics on the lawn of her home meant a ride on an authentic Japanese swing and a superb view of the valley from the edge of the hilltop 6stflt6 When snow covered the ground, Miss Walker was a familiar sight along village streets in her sleigh, as she went to pick up her mail at the post office. Born into a family of ardent riders, she rode since childhood. Until well into her late seventies, she hunted with the Sewickley Hunt, of which she was a member. Many hunt-club events ended with a social gathering at “Muottas,” Katharine Walker was a longtime member of Shields Presbyterian Church, recently merged with the Presbyterian Church of, Sewickley. Early in life, she demonstrated her good works as a volunteer at the Neighborhood House, a church-sponsored mission to immigrants in Leetsdale.
