The ides of March coming: some things to beware We knew the smooth sailing on the boulevard was too good to be true. And while we hate to be the bearers of bad news, here goes: PennDOT construction unit has issued a traffic alert for motorists who use Ohio River Boulevard.. ■ -Beginning Tuesday, March 4 — and continuing 24 hours a' day for the next month — the boulevard will be restricted to one lane in each direction at the Haysville/Osbome borough lines. Crews must make repairs to an underground drainage viaduct, The work is subject to favorable weather conditions, according to PennDOT. In the village, continuation of SeWickley Commercial Development Corporation’s (SCDC) business-district rejuvenation also begins this week. This is basically a continuation of the Phase I public-improvements program that began last fall and was halted for winter. The contractor will perform work in block segments — e.g. Linen Shop to Walnut Street; Walnut to Green, etc. — with die project commencing at the Linen Shop. SCDC anticipates that everything, should take 2-3 weeks for replacing the curbs and sidewalks in each block. During construction, the contractor will maintain traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian, on Beaver Street and to all stores. SCDC has urged die contractor to proceed as rapidly as possbile in order to minimize the inevitable inconveniences to everyone affected by the project. The improvements include new curbs, sidewalks, lights and trees. Phase I covers Beaver Street from Blackburn to Broad. ORB repairs promise to be nothing like those experienced by motorists during the past two years. The job is minor and should be completed within a month. (Photo by Daniel M.
