Jl " Pear no man, and do justice to all men."' p* Vol. IV SEWICKLEY, PA., SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 1906 No. 2 ■,,^.^,..-;..._.,.,,—.r r New Officials of the Sewickley Valley Business Men's Association. ^ i B S ■': ^osr*- te^ ELECT OFFICERS. Committee on Postoffice Site Reports—Other Buiness of Importance Transacted. About thirty members were present at the meeting of the Sewickley Valley Business Men'8 Association, held on Tuesday evening, at which time the annual election of officers took place. There were a number of candidates on the ticket for the various offices. Despite the rivalry a harmonious feeling prevailed, every member placing the interests of the Association foremost in his choice. Mr. George H. Hegner, the retiring president, who has proven himself a tireless worker for the good of the Association, will be succeeded by Mr. William G. Murray, the well-known feed man of Blackburn avenue, Mr. Murray is a conservative and progressive man with executive ability that eminently fits him for the position as president of the Association, which has passed the experimental stage, and under the guidance of Mr, Murray results are sure to accrue during the coming year. Mr. E. B. Gray, another prominent member of the Association, and a diligent worker, will fill the vice president's chair for the next term, Mr. Gray needs no extensive introduction to the people of the Valley, for he is already well and favorably known, having conducted a meat market here for many years. He, too, through his experience in a business way, will make a valuable official. The duties of the financial and recording secretary will be attended to by Mr. Paul J. Quinn, a well- known young business man who is the head of the Paul -J. Quinn Gompany, gents' furnishers, of Beaver street. Mr. Quinn has much to recommend him for this responsible position, having been connected with the Tri-State News Bureau for some years and this, with his keen business knowledge, places him in a position to transact the business of the Association in a diplomatic and expeditious manner. Gouncilman A. H. Diehl, proprietor of the Sewickley Studio, will serve as corresponding secretary. Mr. Diehl has had valuable experience in administering duties such as he will be called upon to perform. He was one of the charter members of the East End Board of Trade. Tfie treasurership of the Association was not changed and Gouncilman Walter E. Patton will remain in this office for another year. This was the unanimous consent of the members of the organization. The board of trustees elected, consists of Messrs. B. F. Gampney, S. B. Handy, W. J. Kerr, E. W. Becker and Joseph Heuler. The results in the main show a well-chosen set of officials, and their tenure of office will no doubt be a profitable one for the Association. Prior to the election the regular routine business was disposed of and a report was received from the special committee appointed Some time ago to look into the procuring of, if possible, a post- cffice site. The comnvttee secured .data and information concerning nearly a dozen pieces of property, and reported as its choice to the Association the Johnston property on Broad street. The report was received and the committee continued to look further into the matter with the point in view to have not only the borough authorities to become interested, but all the citizens, the idea being to grasp the opportunity of procuring for 'the town a public improvement that will be of lasting benefit and a credit. ilwfiijawHiiyw ran-rwfi tt-WQSpg
