Miller) QV students rap with reporter on U.3.-Libya Stars and stripes will fly high this Saturday Sewickley Valley residents will have a chance to show their loyal-• ty next Saturday The stars and stripes will be held aloft with pride as part of the 24th Annual Loyalty Day Parade, which begins at at 6:30 p.m. on May 3. The parade is sponsored by the Donald T. Campbell Post 5756 V.F.W. and' the Ladies Auxiliary.,. Thom arid Broad streets is where marching units will gather. The march will proceed down Thorn to Grant, right on Grant to Beaver, die onto Beaver Street and through the business district. The parade will disband at Chestnut Street. The reviewing stand will be located at Beaver and Broad. .The Grand Marshall for the parade will be Brig. General Richard Thorn,-1 United States Army Reserve. The parade line-up begins with Sewickley Police Chief Walter J. Brannon and police representing Edgeworth, Leetsdale, Sewickley Heights, Aleppo, Bell Acres, Leet Township and CoraOpolis. National Sergeant-at-Arms George F. Sarver Jr. will lead the Massed Colors composed of American Legion Post 4 and 450 Sewickley; V.F.W. Post 402, Coraopolis; V.F.W. Post 3372, Leetsdale; and Post 5756, Sewickley. Next will come representatives from various Penn-sylvania men’s and women’s veteran’s organizations, including District 29 Sr. Vice Commander Earl Nudi, District 29 President Edith W, Davis, Allegheny County Council Commander Ed Evans and Allegheny County Council President Anna May Meyers, Post 5756 Commander Robert Abercrombie and Post 5756 Ladies Auxiliary President Betty Ford.. The George Washington Carver Band from Pittsburgh will add musicial excitement to the parade with patriotic fare. Sewickley Mayor Marie Guy and Sewickley Borough Council members will be seen next, followed by poster coloring contest winners from the Loyalty Day Poster Contest, Flames and Flickers Jr. Drum and Baton Corp. from North Washington, and White Heather Pipes and Drums from Am-bridge. This will complete the first division. The second division Will be led by West View V.F.W. Color Guard and their Ladies Auxiliary, 'East Butler Sparks Jr. Baton and Drum Corp., Strath-Mor-Highland Band Pipes and Drums from Greensburg, Greater Pittsburgh Elks Marching Band, Top Hats Sr. Baton and Drum Corp from New Kensington, and Highland Cavaliers Jr. Baton and Drum Corp. from Tarentum. Thunderbird Drum and Bugle Corp. from Pittsburgh with John Mitchell, 1986 Pennsylvania State Young Mens Twirling Champion, will be a special feature of this division. The third division will start with Bellevue V.F.W.
