Scott has been informed by the authorities at Washington, that Sewickley is entitled to another carrier, who will go pn duty June 1. The Edgeworth Borough Gouncil convened in regular session Monday evening with President Lord in the chair. Mr. Laughlin was the only absentee. Borough Glerk Fleming Nevin, Solicitor Rodgers, Burgess Russell and Street Commissioner Buckley were also present. After the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting, which were adopted as read. Mr. Brooks of the Finance Gommittee presented a report, which was filed. It shows the valuation of property to be $2,600,000; this at 4 mills will bring in a revenue of $10,000, and as the running expense of the borough will not exceed $7,00, the municipality has a bright future before it. This body is imbued with considerable civic pride, which was demonstrated when Mr. Lloyd was appointed a special committee to consult Mr. Davy, a specialist on trees, whose services are being eagerly sought after by prominent people of the Valley, to look after the beautiful trees owhich line the borough streets, which need some care. A report will be handed in at the next meeting. Messrs. Updegraff and Dolan, of the Sewickley Electric "Gompany, were present concerning some poles they wish to place. The matter was talked over and finally left in the hands of the Solicitor, who will draw up an ordinance. Mr. Updegraff asked that the ordinance be made in the name of the Edgeworth Electric Company. The matter pertaining to the erection of the new hose house was then taken up and Mr. Herz appointed to supervise the work as it progresses. Contractor Udick will start the building in the near future. Solicitor Rodgers was instructed to take up the water question with the Leetsdale authorities. This matter concerns the placing of a contract with the Edgeworth Water Gompany to supply the town with fire hydrants. They agree to do this for $30 a year per plug, and maintain a pressure of seventy-five pounds per square inch. There are at present twenty-three plugs in position. Under the heading of new business, the resignation of Mr. Alex Laughlin as a member of the Fire and^Water Gommittee was reluctantly accepted, The president did not fill the vacancy. Gouncil then adjourned. M*
