ZW-ICKERT. / On Sunday Mrs. Edward iZwick- srt, Jr., formerly Miss Alice Rogers, died at her home on Ghestnut street, Edgeworth. She had been failing in health for some time,' and her death was a great shock to her many friends, who deeply mourn her loss. The funeral services were held at St. James" Roman Gatholic Church Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock. Interment at St. James' cemetery. The pallbearers were three cousins and a nephew, Frank Zwickert, James and John Reagan and William Driscoll, She is survived by her husband, also by her parents, six sisters and two brothers. . .. , ■ y MRS. CLARA JANE. PIKE. Mrs. Clara Jane Pike, aged 70, died Monday afternoon at the home' 7 of her daughter,V:Mrs. Lewis K. Davis, on Academy avenue. Mrs. Pike's home was in Gincinnati, and she came to visit her daughter five months ago. Her husband, who was at on,e, time a well-known steamboat.//iterator s and publisher of the Ohio* River Traveler, died six years ago. Most of Mrs. Pike's life had been spent in Maysville, Ky., and Gincinnati. Her daughters, Mrs. Gharles S. St'iepal of Hartwell, 0., Mrs. Harry J, Mc"- Gullough of Batavia, 111., and Mrs. Davis, of this place, and her brother, Henry D. Newell, of Maysville, Ky., survive. / WILLIAM C. MERRIMAN. William G. Merriman, a lifelong resident of the house in which he was born, in Sewickley township, died at the home of his nephew, Elmer Merriman, 27 High street, Allegheny, on -Tuesday, in his eighty-third year. William Merriman was born in Sewickley towship on April 5,1823. Until ten years ago he enjoyed the best of health, but at that time he took up his residence with his nephew in Allegheny. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. The funeral services were held Wednesday at the Merriman residence in Allegheny. His remains were laid to rest beside those of his father and other members of the family, in the Methodist cemetery in Sewickley township. Baptist Church Music. The'following musical program will be rendered at the First Baptist church in this place to-morrow : Morning. Prelude— (a) "Adagio Sosterriito," . (b) "Tocatta," Selection—Choir. Offertory/'Andante Religioso," Lemaigre Postlude, "Gloria," .'. , ■ . . .Mozart Kuhlan . Forbes WITH THE POLITICIANS The Campaign to Be Opened in the Valley in Earnest in the Near Future. PROMINENT SPEAKERS ENGAGED. Hon. Thomas J. Ford, chairman of the Republican county executive committee, has appointed James G. Ghaplin a merriber of the county campaign committee, and Mr. Edwin Lyon, of this place, and Mr. Arthur L. Over, of Glen Osborne, as members of the committee on meetings and speakers. A large and enthusiastic Republican mass meeting was held in Old Gity hall, Pittsburg, last night. The speakers were Congressman W. P. Hepburn, of Iowa; General Thomas J. Stewart, Attorney General Hampton L. Garson and James Francis Burke, Esq. Several marching clubs from different parts of the county were present.. Plans are under way for a Republican mass meeting in this place in the near future which is to surpass anything of the kind ever held in the valley. A meeting will be held in the First ward polling place Monday evening, October, 3 to begin preparations, for the same, as it is the desire of the committee to have good music and the best of speakers that can be secured. It is understood that a numberof marching clubs have signified their willingness to participate. The arrangements are in the hands of the members of the county executive committee in the valley and the campaign committee of this place and the vigilance committee of Leet township. The representatives on the county committee of the borough are; First ward, S. Y. McFarland; Second ward, Solomon Ague, Leet township, First district, Harry Reno; Second district, Thomas W.
