The Thanksgiving turkey, to be won hy the highest run at duckpins, was won, on Thursday, by Robert Thompson, with a run of 47, at the Sterling Alleys. Bob received congratulations and has done justice to his ten pound bird. The Tuesday evening pool contest was a fine display of playing, by William Clearwater, a champion player. He and Borkman did a game in which Glearwater did 150 and the Sewickleyan 125,. A large number witnessed the playing. Basket Ball To-Night. This evening #X the'Y. M. G. A. the first basket ball game of the season will be played,, when the local Y. M. G. A. team will play the Y. M. G. A. team from Wilmerding, which won the championship' last season. There is sure to be a large crowd present-to see the game, and also . witness the High ■ School class game, which will be played as a preliminary, and will start at 7.45 P. M. The admission fee will be the same as last season. . Evangelist Taylor. There will be three services at the Baptist church Sunday, as follows: At 11 a. m. Evangelist J. Dimmick Taylor will speak on the "Home of the Redeemed Soul, or the Glorified and; Purified State of Man." This sermon is one that everybody should hear, and one that will help every Ghristian and make'him stronger in the faith. At 3 p. m. to everybody. Subject— " The Devil's Boomerang." At 7,50 p. m. Subject—"A Prayer- Meeting in Hell and Who Will Be There to Participate and Lead in Prayer." A special program *of music will be rendered. Gome early if you want a seat. MR. There will be a meeting in the interests of local option on Tuesday evening, December 3, at the United Presbyterian Ghurch.» Addresses will be made by Mr, E. A. Lawrence, Mr. John A. Grawford and Mr. W. G, A. Millar. ^ If you buy the Herald you can get the news of the Valley, Mr. Springer Harbaugh Moore, the well-known young attorney, of this place, will be a candidate for the nomination for Assemblyman of this, the 13th district, at the primary election on April 11,1908. Mr. Moore is a graduate of Princeton University, also of Harvard Law School, from which he graduated in 1902, and he has been following his profession since, being a member of the Allegheny Gounty Bar, and has his office in the Frick annex. He is a full-fledged Sewickleyan, having been born and raised in this place. He graduated from the Sewickiey High School in 1892. This bright young man has sterling qualities that recommend him to the voters of this district and they should give him a rousing vote as he will make a desirable representative in our State Legislature. .So far there are three persons in the field, with two to elect. The district includes all boroughs and townships north of Allegheny and the Ohio rivers, to the county line. Be sure and remember your fellow townsman at the polls on April 11,1908. Mass Meeting for Men in School Auditorium. There will be a mass meeting for men only in the School auditorium to-morrow (Sunday) afternoon, at 3.30 o'clock. Gharles D. Hurrey, continental secretary of the Young Men's Ghristian Association, will be the speaker. Mr. Hurrey has re-: cently returned from the Far East and is soon to leave for South America in the interest of Association work in that country. All men should hear him. The soloist will be Mr. P. P. Reese, of Thanksgiving Day for H. S. The Thanksgiving day football game, was one of thanks for hundreds. White's field contained at least 500 spectators of the game on Thursday between Sewickley High School and Ganonsburg High School. The home team won by the score of 21 to 6: Particularly good playing was done by Whitlock and E. Cunningham. Farrar played a strong game for Ganonsburg. Line-up: Lake L. E . '. P. Sharp Tallant L. The attractions will be fancy work, candy, homemade cakes, pies, doughnuts, sandwiches and coffee, for the quality of which these ladies are noted; fishpond, common sense table, country store and an old woman in the shoe.
