Am ILJiRJI' Fear no man, and do justice to all men." Vol, V SEWICKLEY, PA., SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 1907 No. II Double Anniversary. o / Specially Interesting Services at the M. E. Church Tomorrow. Tomorrow, Sunday, November 10, will be marked by services at the Sewickley Methodist Episcopal chuch observing two events, and full of special interest not only to every member of the church but to Sewickleyans in general. It will be a double anniversary, one of. these a golden affair, the other recalling an event of seventy years ago. The organization of the church took place in 1837, three score and ten years ago, while the incorporation is dated November 13, 1852. To fittingly observe these events services will take place at the church. At 9 a. m, the Sunday school will hold a short session, adjourning in time for the meeting, at 10 o'clock, in honor of the pillars of ' the church, who have been members for "thirty years or more. This meeting will be in charge of Dr. H. L Ghapman, former pastor here, now of Uniontown. ' At ll a. m. the Rev. M. J. Schleppy, another former pastor, now of the Buena Vista Street church, Allegheny, will deliver an address regarding the 'history of the church. This will be full of interest. At 7.45 in the evening the Presiding Elder Rev. T. N. Boyle will preach. Good music will add its. charm to these assemblages. At the 10 o,clock service a special chorus of the Men's'Glub'of the church, a male chorus of over a score of voices, will be heard. It will be in charge of Mr. J. P. McDonald. Mrs. Flueckiger, of Broad street, Leetsdale, was .severely injured this week by falling from the top of a step ladder. She struck her chest and is now suffering from pleurisy. . The minstrel show given by the Ambridge plant employees, at Leetsdale, was a great success. Mr. G-. A. Kraber's solo, "Davy Jones' Locker," and Mr. J. E. Pet- tee's -solo, "Ephraham Johnson," were particularly good. Much praise is due to all who took part. Mr. Wm. Fair, chauffeur for Mr, Byers, of the Heights, is receiving congratulations from his many friends over the arrival of a girl baby in his family. Mother and child are doing well. Mr. Miller Dickson and 'Squire Allewelt are on a hunting tour in Elk county. Look out for bear stories. Transferred to McKeesport. The many friends of Mr. J. H. Gaster will be sorry to learn that he has been transferred from the Valley to McKeesport. Mr. Gaster has been manager of the G. D. & P. Tel. Go, at the Sewickley Exchange for over seven years, and the best wishes of his friends, go with him in his departure from the Valley. Mr. Harry Hood, will be in charge of this district after November 11. Stork Visits Leetsdale. Congratulations are extended to Mr. and Mrs. Lew Frey, of Broad street, Leetsdale, to whom a baby girl was born on Monday. Goes to the West End. Mr. Blaine Worls, who has been connected with the Allegheny Gounty Glub, for some years, has resigned his position and will move to the West End, where he will take charge of the estate of Mr. John A. Woods. Local Voting. Election day' in this place passed off quietly, but effectively, with Republican votes far ahead. The day was a bad Tuesday as to weather; and for Democrats, very bad. The results were as follows: First Ward—State Treasurer : Sheatz, 110 Republican; Harman, 89 Democratic; Stevenson, 3 Prohibition. Judges : Thomas J. Ford; 151 Republican, 34 Democratic, J. D. Shafer. 152 Republican, 36 Democratic; J. D. Garnahan, 150 Republican; Josiah Gohen,. 133 Republican ; Swearingen, 146 Republican; W^^Brej5nen,.i55. Democratic; G. G. Lewis, 2 Union Labor; M. L. Thompson, 34 Democratic. Goroner: Armstrong, 142 Republican, 2 Union Labor; J. W. Wehner, 41 Democratic; Hesser, 7 Prohibition. At the First Ward polls Mr. W. H. Parkin was judge, and. G. F. Barkwill and J. M. Little inspectors. At the Second Ward Mr. James H. Eaton was judge, and F. A. Drynan and E. G. McPherson inspectors. At this voting place about one-half the votes cast were by colored voters.' The annual bazaar will be given by the members of the Baptist church Thursday, December 5.
