IVCRAIG WINS THE CUP Thegolfers on the Edgeworth Glub links were busy during the greater part pf""tr.e day on the -Fourth, and the golfing program had a brilliant wind-up in putting contests for men and women on illuminated .greens, ending with a band concert and a dance Yat Putting contest for men at six holes on illuminated greens:- Winner J. Rohrbacher,. 20. Shot the Dog. ■•-/Chief- Greenawalt did a humane act on Friday afternoon, when 'he shot'a poor unfortunate dog which was run down by an automobile and seriously crushed'.' The canine be- the clubhouse. Mr. IVj. Graig won thefPresident's cup offered by Mr. Frank R. Dravo by returning the low "net score of '71 in the 18-hole handicap tournament. Mr. R. P. NevirC Jr., was second, with a score of 73, and-M-r. R. P. Leipold; ;third, with a.score of 75. <Mr.J. te: Brown 'won the-'putting contest for men in the evening with a score of 11 strokes for the six holes played, Miss Betty Wordrop winning" the contest for women'With a score, of' 15. Expired at the Home of His Brother in Mansfield, ... Ohio, " "'"V; A telegram was received by'-Mr. George H. Hegner, yesterday afternoon announcing the death of Mr. J. G. Robinson, the well-known insurance man of Hill street. He expired at the home of his brother, in Mansfield, on Thursday morning at 3.20'. • He left Sewickley last Wednesday for • Ohio, and intended. going from there to Denver, Gol. Deceased, was 43 years of age. He was a member of the Heptasophs and the Royal Arcanum, and for many years was a telegrapher in the employ of the Pennsylvania .company. He entered the insurance business some years ago, and had established a good clientele.. Death was caused by a complication of ailments, he having been under the care.of a doctor for some months. He is survived by two little boys, William, aged 6 years, and, John C, aged. 12 years, his wife having died March 17, 1904. His death, while not entirely un- looked'for, came as a sudden shock to his many friends in the Valley. No facts concerning the "funeral t arrangements cpuMbe' ascertained, but he wili probably be buried in Mansfield. .-■.■.."'* Will Macadamize Centennial Avenue. Off On a Business Trip. Mr. Edward W. Becker, of the firm .pf Chris Becker & Son, will leave this evening for a trip into the Muskingum Valley, Ohio, where he will visit some of the largest poultry farms in that state. , The trip will be made via the Ohio river, and Mr. Beqker expects to visit other points while absent. Borough Council Passes Some '. Important Legislation at Its Regular Meeting . Tuesday Evening. WILL PUT OIL ON THORN ,. STREET TO LAY THE DUST. The regular meeting of Sewickr ley Gouncil last>:Tuesday evening wa.s. an, interesting one and. considerable business, much.of .it.impq,rtT ant, was transacted.,, -,,... -... . .After the roll call'by .Clerk Mp- Fariand,-.to. which every member of council responded,.,,the minutes of the previous "meeting were read and adopted. . ...... Mr. Brown then reported that he had purchased,two dqzen chairs to be used in. connection with the bandstand when, there, are open air concerts. There s win also be some attention given, the waste paper baskets that ,are placed on the various corners .fqr refuse and probably some new ones purchased.
