The Sewickley Presbyterian Church House takes on the appearance of the deck of a ship several times each week as the members of the church choir, swing into the final weeks of rehearsal for “H. M. S. Pinafore”, by Gilbert and Sullivan. The choir organization chose this means as its contribution towards starting a fund for the purpose of purchasing a new organ for the churcli. The operetta will be presented on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, February 15 and 16, at 8:30 o’clock, in he Sewickley High School Auditorium. Tickets are now on sale and may be purchased at Knapp’s Drug Store or at the Presbyterian Church office. The following is a partial list of patrons and! patronesses: Mr. and Mrs. Edward K. With the success of a mail campaign for funds for Santa Claus and Christmas celebration and the recent play, the Board of Trade now has funds to add to the Christmas Photo by McCandlcss Studio lighting of the business district, as well as other local improvements, such as park and recreation facilities. Another play will be held Thursday, April 27th, at the Sewickley High School, with the proceeds being added to the Board of Trade’s Special Account. The next play is “Two Blind Mice,” a satire on government bureaucracy.________________ Ann McCullough, Mrs. Carl Walil and Mrs. Donald C. Wilson. A captains’ meeting is called at the YMCA Thursday evening, January 19th (tonight), at 7:30. Sewickley Chairman For March of Dimes Containers Placed In Stores and Schools The 1950 March of Dimes will be conducted in Sewickley and throughout the nation during the two-week period from January 16 to 31, Mrs. Nellie Marttca, Sewickley Chairman, announced today. Mrs. Marucn revealed that plans for campaign activities are now being made and the workers arc receiving a final briefing on the work ahead during the two-week period of the local drive. The people of Sewickley have always had the welfare of their children at heart and have always demonstrated their loyalty and support in the fight against the cruel disease — infantile paralysis. In that knowledge, the local March of Dimes volunteers will go all-out during FIRE! When telephoning fire alarms to the borough building, please give the person who answers your name as well as the street number to avoid delay in the fire department arriving at your house. Fiue Chief J. C. Doughty the drive to make this campaign the phenomenal success it must be, Mrs, Maruea concluded.
