Rich's Store At New Location — 418 Beaver St. „ Rich’s store, formerly on Beaver Street next to the Borough Park, has moved, to 418 Beaver Street, fornierly Tackson’s Shoe Store. Mr. Rich has remodeled the store room to provide space for a new boy’s wear department, while continuing his extensive lines of mens wear, shoes for the entire family and ladies hose. The larger windows give an opportunity to display the various linos. Samuel Green, of the Green Engineering Company, is remodeling Richs former location by extending the balcony over the entire room, for engineering offices. The executive offices will be located in the front of the room. Hearing On A &P Parking Lot Set For December 17 Sewickley Council Approves Committee Report Recommending Sewage Disposal Plant On Chadwick Street Sewickley council, at its regular meeting Monday night, raised the borough’s share of the wage tax from 3/8’s to % of 1%, which with the school’s % of 1% makes the total to be paid by Sewickley taxables 1% for the year 1957; set December 17th for a hearing on an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance permitting the Zoning Board to allow parking lots in the residential area adjacent to the commercial zone; approved a committee recommendation that the engineers proceed with the construction plans for a sew-age'disposal plant to be located on Chadwick Street in'Sewickley; passed an ordinance requiring property owners to cease dumping roof water in the sanitary sewers, after 30 days’ notice; passed a notice of intention to join the County Health Department but keeping the Borough Board of Health for a year; raised the age limit for ladycops; approved a sub-division of the former O’Neil property at 59 Beaver Street; heard that Tax Collector Gibb had summoned 43 wage taxables for failure to complete final returns and assessed them $1,288 in delinquent taxes and heard a report that Sewickley water would be flourinated about January 1st. With the cash balance down to $56,830 from $70,699 at the same time last year, President Atwood warned council that unless some taxes were raised, the borough would again dip into cash reserves. The finance committee met with the school board’s finance committee and were (Continued, on Page 12) Quaker Joint Committee Met In New Central Office Approval Received From the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools The Quaker Valley Joint Schools Committee met on Monday night in’the new Central Office building in Edgeworth. The committee members were impressed with the attractive rooms, and with the speed with which the building was made ready for use. This is now the headquarters for the administrative staff of the Quaker Valley Joint Schools. It is situated on Beaver Road in Edgeworth just below die Edgeworth elementary school, next door to die Edgeworth kindergarten building. The representatives of the seven school districts amended a previous motion concerning retirement pay based on supplemental activity pay; heai’d the chairman of the Finance committee, Mr. Foster, and die chairman of the Faculty and curriculum committee, Mr. Black, report die decisions of dieir coinmittees concerning a request by die Leetsdale branch, P.S.E.A., for adjustments in salaries for their teachers; learned diat die final census figures will be studied on Monday by Dr. Clark of die Comity office and by the Quaker Valley Schools Administrators, with recommendations to be made on die basis of the figures to die Building committee, Mr. Heumann, chairman; heard Dr. Bedison report diat Quaker Valley High School training facilities had been approved for a veteran seeking a diploma, and that die Middle States .Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools had approved Quaker Valley High School.
