Gray, Chief Marshal of the annual Sewickley Hallowe’en Pageant, Maskers’ Street-Dance, Pie Eating Contest and General High Jinks, hereby promulgate to all children old and young my Assembly Call and General Orders for the unanimous turn-out of the community next Monday evening. On that night, we will have with us General Foch and General Pershing, secured by urgent personal solicitation, with their aides and suite. These distinguished guests will lead the big Hallowe’en Parade, suitably mounted on horseback, escorted by the Sewickley Valley American Legion Band in full uniform. This will be an exact duplicate of the Grand Triumphal March that General Pershing and General Foch headed this year in Paris on the occasion of the American Legion convention there, All are commanded to come out and honor these guests of the town with the proper reverence and hospitality in every possible manner. The parade will form on Broad Street at 7:30 o’clock, moving promptly at eight, in the following order: Uncle Sam American Legion Band General Pershing and Aides General Foch and Aides The Big Man and his Aides The Y. M. C. A. and Girl Reserves Grand Carnival of Nations in fancy costumes The Public Schools Aeroplanes Drum Corps Decorated Floats Fire Departments The parade will march on Broad street to Beaver, to Chestnut, to Thorn, to Walnut, to Beaver, to Broad, then countermarching on Broad street back to Beaver, to Chestnut street, and there dismiss. Numbers for those in costume are to be had at C. A. Schlumpf’s store on Beaver street; they will be ready today and tomorrow. A number of handsome prizes are to be awarded by the judges; they can be Seen in the window of the Sewickley Pharmacy. Among them is a silver cup for that room of the public school which has the most pupils in line; there is a cup for the best dancer, and other prizes for the best costume, best float, and other outstanding features. After the parade comes the program of fun, band music, dancing on the street, pie eating contests and many other stunts. In case of rain, the celebration will be postponed until Tuesday evening. But it won’t rain. The affair is under the leadership of the Sewickley Kiwanis, and the committee in charge consists of Chairman Gray, W. G. Davis as treasurer—who is thankfully receiving contributions toward the expense from public-spirited citizens; John Hiteshew as secretary; George Watson and George R. McDonald. Sub-committees have been appointed as set forth in last week’s Herald. All are hereby notified to observe these commands, and assemble in accordance therewith, failing not at your peril. In witness whereof I have hereunder set the official seal of my office. James S. Gray, Chief Marshal.
