Aspinwall, University, Wilkinsburg and Shadyside went down to defeat before tho local team's long drives and deadly putting in tho first half of the season. Only Spring- dale was able to defeat Sewickley's golfers to tie for first place at the end of the first half. In an exhibition game, Turtle Creek, leaders of Section III, defeated Sowickloy by a close score, but Aspinwall, Springdale, University, Bellevue and Shadyside were unablo to accomplish that feat so that Sowickloy won the Section II title. During the second half of tho season, Wilkinsburg defeated Sewickloy by a close margin, but Sewickley did something that no other The Class of 1934 as they appeared a year ago in the '• Sewihi." team had been able to do—whitewash' their opponents, in the gamo with University. Members of the team were chosen by competition for low medal scores for thirty-six holes. The captain and No. 1 player is Paul Trudell, No. 2 Alfred Ford, No. 3 Albert Sirianni, No. _ .Tack Peters, No. 5 William Patterson, and No. 6, or alternate, Billy Pord. These are tho players that toppled Iviski, tho national champions for three years, from their throne at Alcoma Country Club last Thursday, by a score of 11 to 4. However, in a startling reversal of form, the local lads failed to play the same brand of golf over tho Pox Chapel course on Monday of this week and were defeated by Turtle Creek, 14 to 1, Al Pord gaining the lone point for the semi- finalists. As a result, Turtle Creel- Union High Sehool won tho AVestorn Pennsylvania Interscholastic Confer- once championship and also a leg on tho now Dr. Thomas S. Arbuthnot trophy.
