't. '. '1 The Kindergarten of the Sewickley Public School was the scene of much excitement on Monday, October 10th3 when the annual trip to the farm was made. For the past few years the hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Albert B. Craig of Craola Farm, Clinton, has made the trip such a delightful event that it has become a part of the program. Friends of the Kindergarten donated the ten cars necessary for transportation. _ On arriving at the farm the children saw the many little calves in the barns, the cows in the pasture, the horses in their stalls and chickens and cats running around. They saw the oats and wheat stored for the winter in the large barn, and played around the haystacks in the farm-yard. The farmer milked a cow while the children watched with much interest. After the milk was strained each child war- served with an individual cup of warm milk. Each child was given an apple, and before they returned to the cars they expressed their thanks and sang the following kindergarten song: '' Tinkle-tinkle, tinkle-tinkle, Tinkle, tinkle, tinkle. Here comes bossy Cow, strolling clown the lane. Good old bossy-Cow,—What docs bossy bring? Fresh milk for us all, tinkle, tinkle, tinlc." On their return to the Kindergarten, the children were surprised to find a beautiful Jersey cow, loaned to the Kindergarten through the courtesy of Mr. P. A. Mooney. No doubt many will recognize it to be the same as has been exhibited in Mr. Mooney's grocery store window on Beaver Street. The cow was immediately christened "Pansy" and all Aveek she has been the center of attraction for all the grades in the school. Following this project the Kindergarten children made butter, which was spread on crackers and served to each one. AH week the activities of the Kindergarten in the building, cutting, drawing, etc., have centered around the farm project. In the following weeks, other process ideas of the program will be developed from this same trip, such as the farmer, miller and baker. The Kindergarten is indebted and extends thanks to the following for the use of their cars: Mr. and Mrs. Albert B. Craig, Mrs. Harry K. Oampney, Mrs. Alfred W. Wilson, Mrs. William I. Parry, Mrs. Carl C. Smith, Mrs. Thomas Howard, Miss Sara Woods, Mr. Pressly T. Craig and the Reverend Dr. Joseph Hamilton, to the Sewickley Herald for taking pictures and to Mr. P. A. Mooney for allowing "Pansy" to visit the Kindergarten. •^ ■•i.'.f.', ■'"■>,■ % •'*> < ■ v ■-■ v, •-■. '.*. \*A JM-
