It scorns hardly necessary to impress again on every citizen of tlio Sowickley Valloy tho importance of voting m the primary election next Tuesday; increased interest in public affairs is evident overywhero, tlio need for a really popular verdict in tho choice of candidates for tho common pleas, county court and juvonilo court judgeships, and tho various county offices is self-evident this year, especially as it moans a showdown between tho peoplo and tho various political groups seeking control with a view to next year's Stato elections. Every ono entitled to voto should surely do so, with a thoughtful study of tho list Of candidates in determining his choice. , . „.„ We're having a fow local contests also, to mako it interesting. In sowickloy 0. S. Biehardson, now completing his iifth suecossivo torm as burgoss —twenty years—seoks ronommation on tho Republican ticket, opposed by George B. McDonald and Paul H. Ingram, the latter two contesting also for tho Democratic nomination. For tax collector W. G. Murray (who now holds that office), Former Collector E. P. Sands, Albert Alimena, Fred W. Jones and John T. Glancy aro campaigning vigorously, tho first three for both party nominations, the last two for tho Bepublican only. For justice Of tho peace, Lawrence V. Gibb for reelection is opposed by C. G. ("Casey'') Jones on both tickets, and by Fred Lourimoro on the Bepublican. For sehool director Charlos D. Biehardson and Mrs. Paulino Y. Morrill, whoso terms expire, seek tho Bepublican nominations, with G. H. Moses and Frank A. Hegner also aspirants for tho places; Mr. Hognor is also on tho Domocrntic ticket. For auditor, Edward H. Wilson and Goorgo M. Watson arc tho contestants on tho Bepublican ticket. For council, there is a warm contest in the first for tlio seats now occupied by Thomas Taylor and Paul H. Ingram; Mr. Taylor is a Republican candidate, as is also Thomas W. Neely, Jr.; Thomas W. Drynan and Miss Margaret Shearer are candidates on both tickets. Mr. Ingram's name is also on tho Bepublican ticket, but he has stated that ho desires rather to stand as candidato for burgess. In tho second ward, W. B. Miller (incumbent) is opposed by Frank J. Boylan on the Bepublican ticket; Mr. Boylan is .also on the Democratic ticket. In the third ward, B. R. Kuhn and B. D. Bitchey are unopposed. Other Sewiekley candidates: For register assessor, 1st ward —Freida Gibb, B. and D.; Kathorine McDonald, D.; and Ireno Buckley, B. and D. Begister assessor, 2nd ward— Margaret Drynan, B.; and Margaret Kane, D. Begister assessor, 3rd ward —Luella A. Sweeney, B. Judge of election, 1st ward—Ward B. Foyo; 2nd ward—M. S. Liebncr, John Scott; 3rd ward—Edward N. Hurd. Inspector of election, 1st ward—none; 2nd ward— Howard Cunningham, William S. Cook and James W. Bocso; 3rd ward—Elizabeth S. Hill.
