For the benefit of the social service work of the Allegheny General Hospital, about a dozen of the Jitiost gardens in Sewickley and on tho Heights were thrown open to public inspection last Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and were much enjoyed by the many visitors. Amoii" the interesting features of the tour was tho rock garden created by Mrs. Henry .Rea a fow years ago as a memorial to her friend, Mrs. f. Stuart Brown, a glimpse of which is shown in this picture. No gardens are open this week, but on May 27th and 28th those of Mrs. Charles A. Painter, Jr., Miss Eleanor Chalfant, Mrs. Lewis A. Park, Mrs. William K. Blair, Mrs. J. F. Byors, Mrs. Ealph M. Dravo, Mrs. W. L. Jones, Jr., Mrs. J. B. Orr, Mrs. Halsey Williams and Mrs. A. J. Barron will be shown. <!'.,. .. r GEN. BALLINGTON BOOTH To Preach in Se-wickley Next Sunday On Sunday morning, May 21st, at 11 a. m., General Ballington Booth, Commander-in-chief of flie Voluntoors of America, will be at the First United Presbyterian Church, Sowickley. The General is known as one of the world's greatest preachers. A rare treat is promised all who are able to attend this service. Hundreds of Volunteer Officers from tho states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Now Jersey and tho District of Columbia will assemble in Pittsburgh from May 17th to the 21st to attend the Regimental Council. General Booth is scheduled to speak to tho Council officers on Saturday, May 20th. On Friday, May 19th, tho General will address .the Pittsburgh Shrino Luncheon Club at the William Penn Hotel at 12 o'clock noon and in tho evening he will address a public meeting in tho Carnegie Music Hall, North Side, at 8 o'clock. General Booth made his last visit to Pittsburgh eight yoars ago. The local branch of the Volunteers are fortunate in securing him, as ho spends most of his time travelling from one state to another in tho interest of Volunteer work and with the tremendous heavy booking, it Was necessary for him to cancel out engagements in order to come to Pittsburgh.
