SEWICKLEY, PA., FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 1933 Price 5 Cents Improving Way fiavk Last week's snow storm brought into pretty relief some of the Improvement work that has been done in Way Park, Edgeworth, under the borough's supervision, hy men who were thus furnished employment through funds supplied by the Advisory Council and other agencies. The bed of Quaker Run was straightened and lined with concrete and stone, and this little bridge was built, making the park far more attractive than before. ■""■muimw Edgeworth Firemen's Benefit Ball For the twenty-fourth year, the Edge- worth Volunteer Firo Company will hold its annual ball this (Friday) evening in tho auditorium of tho Edgoworth School. The gay festivities, enlivened by Danny Nirella's orchestra, with tho inimitable Dan Kelly at the piano, will begin at nine o'clock and continue to ono o'cloek or thereabouts. Tickets havo been mailed to residents of tho borough with a Statement to tho offoot that tho company answered alarms that had a potential fire loss of .$112,000, although tho actual loss was less than $1,000. Tho proceeds of the Annual Ball provide the department with its needs other than thoso furnished by taxes. As the company is strictly volunteer, the firemen receive nothing for their services and tho ball is their only moans of raising money. Proceeds of the dancos furnished the company with funds to rebuild a Pierce Arrow car into a very serviceable and useful chemical truck, adding to tho fire-fighting equipment and to the hose carrying capacity of tho department. Tho company was also able to provido an attractivo framed list of all tho mon ever holding membership in the company since its organization. Walter K. MePherson is chief and othor members at the present time aro: Henry Seigel, John Seigel, William Scott, Charles J. Hatton, Boss Waite, F. H. Bowen, T. J. Prendergast, Nathan H. Buckley, Bichard Bobinson, Frank A. MePherson, Frank S. MePherson, Clarence C. Maekall, Andrew Thein, T. J. Hatton, O. E. Alexander, Charles T. McCullough, John McCrea, Curtis G. Plies, Eugene Harrison, William Gimmoll, O. E. Alexander, Jr., John G. Alexander and Mark D. Shriver. headquarters building tonight (Friday). Everyone is invited to attend. Policemen's Benefit Ball Glenfield Firemen's Card Party A card party and dance with refreshments and prizes, will bo hold by the Glonfiold Volunteer Firo Company in Tho Sewickloy Advisory Council's unemployment fund will be benefited by the proceeds of the Policeman's Ball, which will be held next Friday, February 24th, in the newly decorated Guildhall, rebuilt following last summer's firo. Carl Eddy and his orchestra has been selocted by General Chairman Thomas Whitmoro and his committee, consisting of all the chiefs of polico in tho Valloy, to furnish music for tho event.
