A half-hour broadcast over Station KDKA has been arranged for Thursday afternoon. The club consists of 40 men, directed by Mclvin W. LeMon, of the Buclcncll department of music. This year tho glee club is singing an unusually strong type of literature, most of the numbers on tho program having boon written for tho male chorus rather than the usual transcription. "Lochinvar," a setting of Scott's poem by Hammond, is perhaps the most popular of theso numbers. The club has been widely commended for its finished stage deportment. It includes in its personnel six outstanding vocal soloists and threo instrumental soloists, including the pianist, tho. violinist, and tho organist, who is also the director. Ono of the most ardent supporters of tho Bucknell glee club, which is scheduled to sing at Sowickley Baptist Church on April 4th, is the president of Bucknell, Dr. Homer Price Eainey, himself a singer of note. Dr. Eainey is widely known for his sponsorship of tho liberal arts movement and this year introduced at Bucknell an entirely now curriculum in which tho arts arc emphasized for the first two years, the last two years of the collogo course, being given over to specialization and pre-professional courses. In this new curriculum musie has taken its place alongside tlio othor arts and is offered as a regular part of tho college course. The Bucknell men's glee club reflects this renewed interest in music and at tho same timo offers an unusual opportunity for liberal and creative musical culture of tho type in which Bucknell will now specialize.
