Winne, physical training teacher, with a better all-around team than last year, had little difficulty in winning tho championship in the annual W. P. T. A. L. gymnastic meet, held before a crowd estimated at 700 in the Aliquippa High School gymnasium last Friday evening. Winning two firsts, throe socond.. and two third-place medals, the Sowickloy team, which was tho only ono to enter all classes, amassed a total of 477.9 points. Latrobe High School was socond ' With 272.S points, Wilkinsburg third with 225.6, Jeannotto fourth with 152.7, Now Brighton fifth, with 124.5, Aliquippa sixth with 70, Leetsdale seventh with 6S, South Fayotto eighth with 63, and Ben Avon High ninth with 58 points. Tho school will add anothor trophy, a bronze plaque adorned With a sil ver plate, to its collection. Edward Rigby was awarded two medals for first place in both the flying rings and tho horizontal bars; Eiehard Nauman won a medal for second place in thc horizontal bars; Charles Roth won a similar modal in the flying rings and Paul Miller also won second in the Indian club swinging. Paul Mooney won tho medal for third placo on the flying rings and Kenneth Newbury for third on thc parallel bars. Each man on tho team concentrates on one or two events, wliich included Indian club swinging, side horse, parallel bars, mats, rings and high bar. Tho team gavo an afternoon exhibition beforo the student body of Aliquippa High School on Friday afternoon and gavo another exhibition Wednesday afternoon at Langloy High Scliool. Tho Scwicl.ioy team will compete for tho western regional championship at the Stato Teachers' Collogo, Slippery Hock, on Saturday afternoon, April 6th. Last year, competing against the best teams in thc western part of Pennsylvania, Sewickloy won second place. In thc W. P. I. A. L. competition last yoar, Sewickley won thc highest number of team points, but thero was no prize for team totals. This (Friday) afternoon, at threo o'clock, tho famous Springfield College gymnasium team will givo an exhibition in thc Sewickley High School gymnasium. Their program will in- chido wand rhythms, side horse, waltz clog, rings, Indian club swinging, parallel bars, tap danee solo by \V. Tagliabuc, comedy gymnastics by R. Burcaw and D. Porter, athletic ring drill, long horse leaping and vaulting, saber drill and pyramid building. Kindergarten Olosed As the third pupil in the Public School became ill with scarlet fever Saturday4, the Sewickley kindergarten was closed Monday morning to re-open April _st, unless other cases appear in tho meantime. A note was sent home with each of tho kindergarten pupils, announcing the closing and requesting parents to insist that tho children remain at home and not play with other children. School officials aro not alarmed at the slow spread of tho disease, although tho school physician and nurso are redoubling their vigilance and sending children home at the first symptoms. Unless quarantines aro more strictly enforced, closing tho cntiro school Would not stop the epidemic, as''children aro exposed by playing with other children and medical aid is not summoned until thoro is no no doubt that tho child lias the disease.
