Included in the first group of Mood donors on Saturday were these residents of the Valley. From left to right are: Mrs. Hazel Beighley Isenour of Quaker Koad, Edgeworth; Frank Rosenbsrger of Amhridge; Mrs. William P. Murdoch of 867 Thorn Street; Mrs. Edna Hegner Ruff of 832 Centennial Avenue; Police Lieutenant Lee S. Jones of Sewickley, and Mrs. Pearl Martin Trondell of Fair Oaks. The nurses are Elva Wurmb and Myra Wilson, who accompany the Mobile Unit. Dr. Catharine M. Clarke of Grove Street was in charge on Saturday. The Unit will be at the emergency CD hospital in the basement of the Sewickley Public School, where these pictures were taken by Officer Thomas Toia, next Saturday, and Saturday, October 31st. cm + The Red .Cross Mobile Unit of the Volunteer Blood Donation Service has paid its first visit to Sewickley Valley. It returns this coming Saturday, and will make its final visit the following Saturday. We hope and expect that the coming visits will be as successful as was the first one, when we had 143 volunteers. We believe that the donors were pleased with the arrangements, and in this connection it is interesting to note that practically every donor volunteered to contribute again in a few months. While it is difficult to single out any group or community as especially deserving of commendation, the record made by the people of Glenfield was particularly outstanding., The Red Cross doctors and nurses were highly pleased with the facilities of the emergency hospital. They said that it was the best set-up that they had yet seen, and commented on the fact that the rooms and floors were absolutely spotless. We extend to the citizens of Sewickley Valley and to all of the Civilian Defense workers who contributed so largely to the success of this venture our hearty thanks. DAVID M. GILMORE, Chairman Eed Grose Chairman David Gilmore undergoing the simple preliminary tests tit the hands of Miss Mary Olive Paul, a nurse who travels with the Unit, before sending off a pint of his blood to save the lives of wounded soldier's, sailors and marines.
