Rosenfelder Samuel H. P. Stinson, U.S.N., First Class Petty Officer .and Aerogr'apher, returned from 'tie -South Pacific recently and is now stationed at the Pearl Harbor Navy Yard; he received his flrst class ratings a few weeks ago. He entered tlie service May 15, 1939, attended tlie aerographer 'school at Lake- hurst, 1ST. J., in 1941; was among the casualties following the attack on u?earl Harbor and spent several weeks in the hospital .there, later resuming his duties with the Pacific fleet. He is a son of 'Mrs. Jean Muegge of Duquesne Way, Sewickley, last -week received birthday congratulations by cable from her grandson, Pilot Sergeant Willim C. Irvin of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Sergeant Irvin is attached to the R.A.F. on overseas duty. He received his wings at Upland, Canada, in September, 1942. Mrs. James M. Stinson of Straight Street, Sewiekley, a graduate of St. James parochial school and Sewickley high school. Elmer Frank Rosenfelder of Haysville has been promoted to the rank of sergeant, at Brookley Field, Mobile, Alabama, where he has been since he volunteered last January. He has been a member of the Guard Squadron and Military Police since he completed his basic training. I "■ ; "■ WITH THE COLORS Receives Navy 'E' C. Sterling Parker II, son of Mr. and ' Mrs. C. Sterling Parker of Beaver Road, •Glen Osborne, has beon awarded the Navy 'E' pin for production efficiency. Ho does all the purchasing for the supply garage at Pearl Harbor, H. T., ■where ho is stationed. Ho also has charge of tho office, the parts department, and tho tire and battery dopart- of that garage. Promoted to Captain Now it's Captain W. D. George, Jr., of 904 Centennial Avenue, for he recently received his promotion. A member of tho Reserve Corps for fifteen yeans. Captain George was called to active 'duty in April, 1942, and has been stationed at the Pittsburgh Recruiting station in the Old Postoffice Building, for tho past six months. Commissioned An Ensign James E. Sincoll, son of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Sincell of 321 Peebles Stroet, lias boon commissioned an ensign in the U. S. Navy and will report to Princeton Univorsity for training on Doccmboi' ,11th. A graduato of Princo- ton in 1937, ho has beon purchasing .agent for tho Pittsburgh Coko and Iron Company for several years. Promoted Alfred H. Johnson, of Glen Osborne, organist of tho Sowickiey Presbyterian Ohurch, now in the Army and stationed' at Columbus, Ohio, has received promotion to the rank of corporal, second pro* motion in two months' service. On a furlough last week-end, ho visited his former home in New Berlin, Pa., and ciimo to Sowickiey for a few hours on Sunday ovoning. Enlists In Air Forces Clarenco B. Clay of 405 Woodland Road, Edgeworth, enlisted in the Army Air Forces last Tuesday and will leave next week for a sixty day training period at Oil City, Pa. Mr. Clay operated the Walnut Auto Company, Chevrolet dealers, for many years and since the garage closed recently due to wartime restrictions, has been employed in a war plant. Ho has done considerable flying and was a member of tho Civil Air Patrol. Robert B. Ivory, of Osborne Xiano, Osborno, an attorney, was commissioned a lioutenant, senior grado* in tho aeronautics branch of tho IT, S. Naval Reserves last Wednesday and is awaiting ordors to report for training. Home on Leave Lieutenant Junior Grade William M. Scaifo, Jr., son of Mrs. William M. Seaifo of Linden Place, spent sovoral days homo on loavo from. Washington, D. C, whero hei is assigned to tho ordnance division of tho IT. S. Naval Resorvo. Lieutenant Junior Grade AVilliam F. Merrill, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Merrill of Glen Mitchell Road, who was stationed at Pearl Harbor the day the Japs mado their sneak attack, isi in San Francisco, hoping to seeuro a leave be foro being assigned to a ship. In tho Navy two yoars, Lieutenant Merrill has seen, action in various parts of tho Pacific in tho last year. Escaped Ship's Sinking Donald Keith, son of Mrs. Perry Keith of Haysville, was a member of the crew of the U. S. S. Porter, which was sunk recently in the South Seas, for three and a half years, until October, 1940, when he became ill and "was in the Philadelphia Hospital for several weeks. The 'Portor' sailed without him and recently he has been at Bay City, Michigan, waiting for a P*'C boat to bo ready to go to sea. At that time, Mr. Keith -will receive a first class petty officer rating. Ensign David B. Oliver, son of Mrs. John C, Oliver, Woodland Road, Edge- worth, lias boon transferred to a naval training school nt Woroton Heights, Conn,, after spending a short loavo at homo.
