Edgeworth woman's removal of oaks OK'd by BOBBY CHERRY An Edgeworth woman can remove three heathy pin oaks from in front of her home despite the borough's bid to preserve the trees for aesthetic appeal, an Allegheny County Common Pleas judge ruled last week. Judge Alan Hertzberg ruled Dolores Bassett, 85, can take down the trio of trees whose roots are cracking a previously repaired stretch of sidewalk along Oliver Road in Edgeworth, according to court documents filed Monday Lawyers for the borough and for Bassett agreed the trees, which are in a public right-of-way between the sidewalk and the street, damaged the walkway. But Bassett wanted to remove the CONTINUED ON • 2 Solicitor says OK for councilman, mayor to serve on parking board by LARISSA DUDKIEWICZ Sewickley's parking authority solicitor has determined there is no conflict of interest having a borough council member and the mayor serve on the board. The opinion from parking authority solicitor Frederick Wolfe came after member Robert "Mike" Glenn raised issue at a Jan. 5 meeting over borough council member Tom DeFazio and Mayor Brian Jeffe serving on the board. "We're a separate entity negotiating with the council," Glenn said. "To me those are conflicts of interest."
