The $45.1 million proposed budget calls for a property tax rate of 17.4612 mills, an increase of 0.3064 mills. For a property owner with a home assessed at the average value of $260,000, that would mean a tax increase of nearly $80 per year. The final budget is to be voted on at the 7 p.m. May 19 school board meeting. A public budget committee meeting is set for 7 p.m. May 6. Both will be held at Edgeworth Elementary School. Superintendent Heidi Ondek said officials still are finalizing the district1 s spending plan. The preliminary budget must be passed a month before the final budget is approved. "We're still working at it," Ondek said.
