Volunteer returns from flood region by Bobby cherry STAFF WRITER Peter Sewchok’s idea of a summer trip didn’t involve sleeping on a cot in a college gymnasium or drinking wine from plastic cups. But that’s exactly what the Sewickley Heights man did as a Red Cross volunteer dispatched to flood-ravaged Iowa and North Dakota. A general services supervisor at the Red Cross’ Pittsburgh chapter, Sewchok provided technology services to the areas affected. His support service allows staff and volunteers to remain in contact, and it allows victims to be able to be given assistance when needed. “It was an interesting experience to sleep on a cot on a gymnasium floor with about 200 of your closest friends,” Sewchok said.
