However, when the state aid- is deducted, the total to be divided among the ten districts is $90,000. The budget provides $73,500 for increases in teachers’ salaries, seven more teachers and two more buses. There is an increase in pay of 3% for all noli-professional employees; a raise for the administrators; an administrative clerk for the secretary and a raise in pay for bus drivers. Part of the increased cost will be covered by die increase of real estate assessments in the Valley and on the Heights of three million dollars. The date chosen by agreement of the boards for assessed valuation was January 15th and the date for per pupil count, February 1st. Foster, wbo presided, John K. stated that a sum was put in the budget for teachers’ salaries, but not committee meetings on the subject and recommendations on a merit schedule are being prepared for discussion at the: next Joint Committee meeting on May 21st. Neely, Jr,, were re-elected solicitors, A question was asked, in their absence, if two solicitors are needed. ' Mr. Foster replied that both have been with..the jointure since it started; the finance committee discussed the question and recommended that both be retained, since their combined, salary is about the same as would be paid to one solicitor and there is twice the chance of contacting one when needed. Walter Threadgill, of the Sewick-ley Board, asked why the January 15th date was chosen for the assessed valuation, since that will cost Se-wickley taxpayers $7,000 more than a later date, Mr. Foster stated that assessment figures are subject to change due to appeals; that the January 15th date was the only one officially certificated by the Board of Assessment to the municipalities as a base for their tax rates, While the joint board can agree on any date, Solicitors Colbert and Neely Stated that the, joint agreement calls for die use of January 15th, as the only official assessment sent out by the County. Dates must be agreed upon for assessed valuation and also for per pupil count. Tlurty-fivo of tlie 51 directors were present and voted to adopt tho budget.
