Stacy, who serves as both school director arid secretary of tho hoard, an opportunity to answer questions about the.-finances. Trophies will bo presented at the Little League Picnic to ho held on Saturday, August 12, at Walker Bark, for tho boys and. their families, ----*.4-1—1 TELL THEM YOU SAW TT IN THE HERALD Direct Distance Dialing And All Nurnber Calling . , ... * Sewickley Exchange Becomes 741 at ^ ,3:01 aan. on Sunday, August 6 / Next Sunday( August 6) will be Dial Day in Sewickley, marking the introduction here of modem dial service with Direct Distance Dialing and All Number Calling. At 3:01 a.m. (E.D.S.T.) on that day, Sewickley telephones will be converted to dial operation, climaxing the Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvanians million dollar Service ^Improvement Program here. v’r;" When dial service is introduced, new seven-figure numbers will become effective for all Sewickley telephones, Norman F. Bach, local Manager of the Company, said today. The new type numbers use no letters and no Central Office names. Direct Distance Dialing, which makes it possible for customers to dial long distance calls direct to points as-far away as California,, will also be introduced at the same time. First calls through the new Sewickley office were dialed by State Representative Laurencô V. Gibb, Burgess of Sewicldey, and Edward O’Neill of -619 East Drive, Edgeworth, whose home telephone service was established in 1887. „ Local civic and business executives toured the new dial office > on Tuesday afternoon, following a pre-cutover luncheon at the Sewicldey Motor Inn. Bach, told guests at that time that .telephone technicians have now com- pleted final tests of the new equipment and everything is in readiness for the >big changfe-over. ■ - As the zero hour of 3:01 approaches on Sunday morning, a group of telephone, men will be standing in the new ^ dial Central Office waiting for the -signal to switch the new equipment into, service. Both calls Were completed in about half a minute! The calls were made after borough and township officials attended a luncheon at the Sewickley Motor Inn ana then inspected the riew 741 Central Office at Beaver and Straight Streets. * >
